Hi, so yeeeaars ago my DSI stopped working, was just playing around in flipnote studio and then it just shut off like it died, but at full battery. Could not turn it back on ever, and i got the 0000FEFE error. I could never find a fix for it, tried sending it in, etc. There was no way to fix it. I gave up.

It is 2020 almost 2021, its been over 10 years, is there a fix? I can work with ANYTHING, replacing parts, soldering, anything. I just want to relive all my lost childhood memories (So, i want the data back.) Can i get these back at all?

Thank you for your response. Seriously. <3

Sorry to hear some of childhood memories are gone. You could have backed up photos to SD… other than that there was never an intended way to backup (game save) data on the DSi (although Flipnote used the SD for storing data if I understood this correctly; never used it).

    According to
    https://dsibrew.org/wiki/Bootloader
0000FEFE is "Boot sector integrity error (Sector 0x200 not valid), or error in NVRAM contents."

Either the NAND died/corrupted (and delivers nonsense data) or the better case: NVRAM contents.
    • Reseat WiFi board (and maybe carefully clean the connector)
    • Try another WiFi board
If you already sent it in somewhere whoever worked on it should already have tried this. Did you contact Nintendo back then? (Not that I have much confidence – manufacturers are very fast at saying: "Impossible")
    =================
If it's not related to the data on the WiFi chip there is not much (if anything) that can be done. This is more a theoretical possibility: Requires very good micro-soldering skills and can only have success if both the NAND is (mostly) okay and the encryption key can be retrieved. I think it was somehow possible to bruteforce Console ID and EMMC CID or whatever they are called. If you can find the encryption keys via brutefore on an image from hardmod (or already have them), data recovery becomes possible with twltool or ninfs.
:!: If you fail at correctly soldering to the very tiny points the NAND will be permanently destroyed on power on / connecting to PC.

Maybe somebody else has an idea?

    Hello. 1111xmas_wink.gif

    Unfortunately......:(
We know of the "fragility" of this Chips.
I am very, very sorry,I have no other Idea.....:(

Sorry for the late reply, thank you very much for the reply also. I had a dream about it magically working yesterday. Hah. I did try to use the wifi chip from my other dsi and it did not work, so that only means one thing, sadly. I do want to get into micro soldering because I already can do normal hardware replacement/ electronics pretty ok just as a hobby, so making it something more than a hobby would be nice. So if this becomes the case, one day, I would probably share about the progress.

but thanks again very much for your reply. The amount of hours I spend on that device is insane as a kid, and its very sad for me to loose it all.
Shows, based in the fact I had a dream about recovering it seemingly randomly.
