*checks its not a link to a rom site like the last one*

Nope clear, carry on.

In all honesty, I could not care less about this feature and I don't see how its news worthy but whatever.

Oh, I thought like in a Soft Reset kinda way... Anyway, this is, of course, so friggin' awesome that everyone will buy a DSi for it

I think it's a neat feature, but not enough to justify me buying it.. useless for flash card users actually

Which leads me to an important point.. that feature shows that the DSi might boot up games in a different way, that could make flashcards useless..

Well, we'll know the answer in 2 weeks..

A feature that should've been present since the first DS model, to be honest.

No telling how many times I've accidentally popped out the cart while it was in sleep mode. >\

oh wow >_<
i bet a piece of homebrew software could do the same on a lite/phat.
hot-swapping isn't possible because nintendo never bothered to make the firmware allow that.
however if you'd modify the firmware, or run a specialized homebrew, you should easily be able to hotswap like that.

just take a look at action replay, and the 3 in 1 backup tool.
they are build around that feature.

I don't see why you'd need to come out with a multi cart feature for a big game instead of just coming up with a cart that holds more. Either way you'd be leaving out DS/DSL users from that game.

About the only real use I'd see for something like this would be transferring data between two games without having to use two systems and connecting wirelessly.

Yeah, I was hoping this could be used as some sort of save data transfer from one game to its sequel or something. Since Konami is releasing Suikoden Tierkreis for the DS, I'm wondering if they'll somehow utilize this feature if they make sequel to Tierkreis since Suikoden games have save data transfers, except in some cases such as when the next installment is a prequel to the previous one or the sequel is too far ahead to have any real use in save data transfering.

any good developer could already get that feature to work on a DS-lite or phat.
just by loading everything needed into the memory, and freezing all read/write attempts untill the card is switched.

as i said, several homebrew already do that.

shit this is cool!, technology to the extreme!,! omg omg ima buy the DSi just cause of this!

omg!(this is not sarcasm, well maybe it migth me)

Can u teleport a telerporter that is telepoerting a telpoerter which is a teleporter ?

It's pretty cool, I guess, but still not enough of a reason to get a DSi, the equalizers are unique and the calendar image feature is also pretty cool but will probably be time consuming, perhaps DSWare is the only reason left to buy this.

You say it's useless but it's great news for me. I'm buying DSi anyway (I'll still keep DS phat for flashcarts and GBA) and have DSi for all that shit it gives

And all improvements are good for me

Multi-cart epic RPGs, anyone?
Honestly, that may be the only reason why they'd allow for this in the first place. Makes me wonder though, if these carts are going to be DSi-only, since there's no possible way to do this on a normal DS outside of having a peripheral in the GBA slot carry save data or the like. Hmm...

So maybe there'll be two versions of a game, a DS and DSi one? Oh boy, I can't wait to see how many mess-ups people make due to this.

You can hotswap carts with the Nintendo DSi, pulling out one game and dropping in another, without having to turn your system on/off.

Via Five new Nintendo DSi details that may or may not blow your mind
Wow. Thats so much easier than having to TURN THE SYSTEM OFF!
It really makes no sense to have a flash card so all my games are on it now. How clever nintendo.

(btw, this is an attack against Ninty for making it news, not inthegray. Take that jumpman!)
