I am using Twilightmenu++ on my New 3DSXL system. I downloaded ds roms and put them in my folder but when I use twilightmenu none of the ds roms are available. The roms end in .nds and they were saved in the nds folder, but they aren't being displayed when I open the folder with twilightmenu. I don't know what's going on or what to look at because it's the latest version of twilight but the roms aren't appearing. I don't even know if the roms will work or not but the general problem is that they are not showing up. I checked the file through FBI and the roms are there, but they don't appear on twilight.

It should be noted that I put the roms on my device and transferred them to my sd card. I did not use a flash drive. I have also heard of nds bootstrap but that was not used either.
Any help at all would be much appreciated, especially if it's rather sooner than later.

Does anyone at least know where I can download DS roms that would work on twilight? Mine should work but if they don't then this will help me answer that. If I can't get a direct answer to this problem then at the very least I could work around it to solve the issue myself. I am trying to get this done as soon as possible.

well firstly GBAtemp rules state that we do not support piracy and cannot link to wares and you may need to wait for someone else who knows more about twilightmenu to help with getting your current ones working

Ah, I do remember seeing something like that. I may have gotten hasty for a bit. My apologies.
So is this the right place to ask about my roms not showing up or should I go somewhere better such as contacting an admin? I'm not really used to this place.

you are in the right area yes just theres no area to ask for roms this area is for general hacking QnA

When I enter Twilightmenu++ none of my downloaded NDS roms are showing on the screen. I know that they're on the SD card because I used FBI to doublecheck and it shows all of the roms saved, but for some reason, Twilightmenu++ acts like the roms don't exist and all it shows is an empty folder. I checked the settings and nds roms are enabled to be shown.

I actually don't think the roms are the problem. I had recently downloaded something called an nds bootstrap and it actually shows up on Twilightmenu++ just like any rom launch title would. I could even launch the nds bootstrap as if it were a rom, but it either gives me a blank screen or it tells me that it only works on the flashcard. I don't really know how to use the nds bootstrap, but I think it might be the key to getting my roms to appear on the emulator. Something interesting I found on the settings was that the nds bootstrap was mentioned several times, and the downloaded bootstrap file was treated as an nds rom (I changed the settings to hide nds roms and the bootstrap wasn't on the page anymore). Being honest, I know very little about the nds bootstrap, and I definitely see this as what stops me from having nds roms appear. It seems like the bootstrap is a tool to launch nds roms, but I'm not entirely sure.

Ok, in a easy way, nds-bootstrap is what TWLMenu++ uses to load commercial roms. Anyways did you check if showing nds roms is enabled in the settings?

Yeah, nds roms are enabled in the settings. What do you mean when you say "commercial roms"? Are those different from regular roms?

I did it! I got the roms to work!
The problem actually was a lot more simple than I thought. Basically, I just needed to extract the rom file from the downloaded rom and put it on my SD card. I had also downloaded the nds bootstrap and followed the instructions from the page. I'll leave these notes to anyone who had the same problem as me:

-Your ds roms are most likely good to use if you simply looked up a source for ds roms and downloaded them from that page. In other words, this isn't the problem.
-Make sure you download the nds bootstrap and follow the instructions as to where the extracted files will go.
-After you download the rom, you have to open it and extract the rom file within it onto the sd card. Simply downloading the rom itself and moving it to your sd card won't work.

Thank you guys for explaining everything I needed to know to get this right. It really steered me in the right direction. Happy holidays!
