Just bought a "for repair" DS lite, the ting is that it is stuck in the configuration screen, once done the initial configuration it apparently reboots and show the same message again, is there any sort of "battery" should be replaced or should I proceed to trim it and turn it into a Macro?
Has hopping to switch the case and pimp it a little bit but scared of wasting too much time

Battery should be easy enough to test in this. If you leave it on the calibration screen unpowered does it turn off after a little bit, or alternatively if it is powered/charge lead connected does it make it back afterwards? Likewise take the battery out and leave it for a few minutes then put it back in and it might clear some issues.

Failures here are unusual but not unheard of. Someone could have failed a firmware flash but I would usually expect other things there (it not really booting to the point of showing that for one). The wifi board can be an issue in some of these, and it might be a matter of it needing to be reseated. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+DS+Lite+Wi-Fi+Board+Replacement/4758
Replacements can be found in various places but with the DS' ascension into not $5 old toy you can find a dozen of in any car boot sale you care to visit that might be harder compared to when that was the case. If you have another around you can try a transplant to see if that sorts it.
If your flash carts can't boot up (some autoboot things could bypass such problems) to in turn do noflashme (restores original firmware, can do flashme afterwards if you like) then you do have the option of ppflash
https://www.darkfader.net/ds/ to try to write the firmware back. There have been stories of people that managed some kind of piggyback or hotswap from a working to the non working to in turn flash with software but I don't know much more there.
