Hey Robz, is there any way to get original png/bmp files for the themes listed on the skin repo? Or at least a few of the default ones; at some point I had copies like this, because I have a few I edited, but now when I download the skins they only have .grf files in the grf folder. I used to love how easy TWMenu was so easy to modify. Would there possibly be a way to convert them back?
afaik, there's no way to convert a grf back to a png or bmp file. What you could try doing is taking a screenshot of a skin using an emulator such as melonDS, and then take the graphics from that screenshot.
Also, I'd say modifying TWLMenu++ skins is still easy (maybe easier?), because you can create a theme using an example one here, and can contain only bmp/png without the need to convert to grf.

Ohh, that's actually kinda what I was asking - If no way to convert between formats, I was just trying to figure out how I had come across all the graphics in their normal format; I was mostly confused because I had assumed the editable skins had come from the main repository.. Which turned out to be all grf files. This is just what I needed, thanks!

EDIT: Also one quick thing I almost forgot -- Are there any examples like the ones you linked, but for the new Wood skin? Or can I use existing skins for some flashcard already? It would be nice to have an editable base for the different layout

The existing Wood/akMenu skins will work fine. The default one is found here.

When wifi option is on in twilight menu options, does waste battery if game or homebrew doesn't use it(like single player) ?
Or only when game is using it(multiplayer)?

Did you use the "Original R4" or "Original R4SDHC" autoboot files?

v27.3.0: Robz' Birthday Release

What's new?

  • Readded the Wood UI theme folder. (sd:/_nds/TWiLightMenu/akmenu/themes/)
  • Added SD card brand detection, in order to prevent booting TWLMenu++ on bad/fake SD cards.
    • Please note that the detection system isn't perfect, as certain bad/fake SD cards are known to reuse CIDs of good SD cards.
    • This feature does not work on flashcards, as the DLDI system does not support reading CIDs.
  • Added a .ini-only setting to swap the DS and DSi splash screens.
    • Open `sd:/_nds/TWiLightMenu/settings.ini`, and add `OPPOSITE_SPLASH = 1` underneath the `DSI_SPLASH` line. As a result, you'll see the DSi splash on DS consoles, and the DS splash on DSi and 3DS consoles.
  • The Unlaunch installer is no longer launchable on the 3DS theme, as with no successful fix attempts, past versions have caused a crash when attempting to launch it.
  • The frame rate feature has been removed, as it has served no purpose.

Bug fix (Wood UI theme)

  • Screen position has been fixed when opening the theme.

They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip

They place married security chips onto boards iirc

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

Xinput and 360 dongles were a driver nightmare
