I think auto-updating Wii gamercards are quite useful, is there anything similar for the DS?

Not that I've heard of. Also do note that using a flashcart on a DSi/3DS would just show the log with the header games :)

It could probably be done with a firmware update, but I doubt anyone has done it..

It would be pretty cool, but would require a loader specific to your flashcart. Not only that but a database would have to be created, which would take ages to complete with all the DS games out there.

And then somebody would have to run the service as well, which isn't free.

It's not that complicate, the firmware on the DS should just send an HTTP request like: "http://mywebsite.net/update_gamecard.php?uid=XXXXX&gid=YYYY", then the php script could be run on any free hosting service.

To my knowledge, no cart or firmware has the capability, and frankly the whole concept is stupid IMHO. If you want to share every detail of your life, go on Twitter or Facebook.
