here are my initial impressions:
- it's quite complex. I've never played Blood Bowl with the figures before so it's all new to me.
- It does have a reasonably clear tutorial section.
- Graphics are nothing spectacular. In fact they're pretty weak given what the DS is capable of.
- There's next to no music.
- There seems to be plenty of depth to the game if you can get into it. A lot of strategy, customisation, different teams for each of the different races.
- It's turn based. you make your moves, passes, tackles, etc. There are certain circumstances such as being tackled, dropping the ball, etc, which end your turn automatically. Each game consists of two halfs of 8 turns each. Basic objective is obviously to get the ball to the proper end zone for a touchdown. Up to 16 players on a team, minimum of 11. If you don't have 11 players for whatever reason, volunteers will join you for the match to make up a team of 11 and you can recruit them after the match.
- Stylus controlled. A little inaccurate but then my screen needs recalibrating (not to mention a damn good clean) so it may not be the game at fault.
- plenty of different races to pick from, from humans, skaven, orcs, chaos, wood elves, etc.
Overall, my initial impression is that it lacks presentation and polish, but if that's not important to you, check this out as it looks to have quite a lot of depth. It's nothing spectacular, but it might be amusing if you already play Blood Bowl or just fancy a sporting turn based strategy game.
