All the sites I looked at simply replaced the old one with the new one.

the original release is nuked because it was broken, so all later releases moved down 1 number.
and now that a proper release is made it is given a new number.

It's awesome!
Finally a good story-driven game which is NO DAMN RPG. Thank you mighty NDS God, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Undub "fix"? This is one of the first DS games I've seen with decent voice acting in the US version. It's not all crappy and terrible voice acting like Disgaea (which was an otherwise good game).

Save should carry over, I don't see any reason for it not to.

However, if you haven't experienced any problems at all and you're past the point in the game that this ROM crashed for people, then don't worry about it. Stick with what you have.

The english voices don't bother me too much in this game... I just wish the names weren't so lame. I guess they don't want to use Japanese names on an english release, but come on... we're all anime veterans.
