Gaming DQ9 - The Wifi shop doesn't have any wares, why?

I've heard that PAL/US/JP version of Pokémon have different pokemon available when connecting online, eg. Darkrai was available for longer in PAL regions. Can it be that my wifi shop in DQ9 doesn't have any wares because I'm using a USA version and the game won't let me download from PAL areas, meaning when I connect from Europe it says there are no updates to the shop? I've tried connecting once, about a week ago, and it connected successfully and the shopkeeper said there were no 'news' or something. Or is it because there's nothing in the USA shop yet?

wifi regions are determined by the game's region, with a few exceptions(jam with the band) where a user defined region is used.

Hm, I did some research, and found out that on Thursdays there is no update, and probably if you update on that time, you'll get nothing in the shop. Perhaps I connected on Thursday?
