Ok, I have a question. I have a general idea about modding, but there is just one thing I want to clear up.
I have just ordered a D2Pro clip chip and plan to install it myself. The thing I am unsure of is the acutaly ISO process.
I have read in some places that you need to have an LG dvd burner drive to save Wii ISO files to dvd in order for them to play.
Is this true? Or am I able to download the ISO and burn them with my dvd burner I already have in the computer.
Also, what program do you recommend to burn the ISO's to disk with?

Thanks

You need a specific kind of LG burners to rip original Wii games to your PC, in order to burn downloaded ISOs you can use any kind of DVD burner, a couple games use a Dual-Layer DVD, so you might want to get a burner capable of burning DL discs.

I've used IMGburn and Nero with no problems whatsoever.

Burning Wii games works with almost any burner and almost any software. You do need to watch which DVDs you buy though, cheap DVD+R work worse than DVD-R from Verbatim or another good brand.

Any DVD-burner will do. Just make sure you're using good quality discs.
A double layer burner isn't really necessarry, only Smash Bros Brawl is double layer and one Japan-only game is.

Ok, thanks everyone for clearing this up for me!
Another question, Forbidden question
I've found quite a few but I would rather stick with one site that has good feedback. Thanks again

I have another question in this area, I've just recently gone on a shopping
spree and bought 25 Wii games. I want to back them up so I can keep the original disks
in top condition. What are the specific LG drives you need to do this? I want to do it asap
as we are going on a long vacation to visit family and I want to take the back-up games with me,
so please mention the drives that are the easiest to find (I'll probably go out and buy one tomorrow)
Thanks again!.

you could always us the cheap option and just use waninkokos disk dumper, you dump the games directly from your wii over your wireless network. takes about 4 hours tho

I'm not really sure of what to do to dump a game over wifi and I know there are alot
of guides to show you how, but I just can't be bothered with all of that. Plus I
don't have that much time b4 we leave so I'd rather just do it the fastest way.
I've found a list of the drives anyway, they aren't that expensive, so I'll just go that way.
Thanks for the suggestion tho.

HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8161B
this model works for dumping wii games.

the only problem is that it's out of production, so if you are really interested in one of these, you need to look on ebay and generally spend lot of money.
