Hacking downgrading

been trying now for 3 days to downgrade firmware on wii, I am on 3.4e and have tried loads of times to downgrade, i have been given ssoftware by differnt people on different forums and after running the character back or forwards i always end up wih message

failed to read boot.elf (-1)!
no code found to load hanging..........
where am i going wrong?

Being the noob that I am: ever tried to follow the SoftMii guide? Most people have success with that.

yeah the softmii guide is the best. Just be sure to replace preloader .26 and .25 with .27, and find the install code.

Read it 4 or 5 times slowly make sure you under stand it if you don't look for the answer in the tread.
32 pages that's not a lot and you may discover other goodies.

SoftMii is for the more advance hacker/gamer. Many people have it but don't know what it can real do.
