Count me in... I can't get past this stupid error. My Wii was purchased exactly one week after launch, so I know that it's not an issue of serial numbers or too new of a machine.

Yup same here. Is it possible to download IOS11 v10 from "elsewhere" and put it on the wii? Is this even the problem?

What application actually produces this error? IOS or cIOS downgrader?

If it's one of the downgrades(should be), then you could do an offline downgrade instead using the 2 downgraders. You need a cIOS already installed for this, don't know if the guide installs the cIOS before downgrading. So it's downgrade IOS35 with DVDx, install a cIOS and then do an offline downgrade.

How to offline downgrade:
coming soon, there are already offline downgrade guides, but they are missing some IOS and i think more warnings wouldn't harm such a guide
I'm referring to these 2 guides:

N00b problem - i guess...

When using the PatchMii IOS Downgrader -
I get error 1017 - as in remove old files, when trying to install IOS 11 - and higher...
I also get error 1017 on the further installs (EULA, MIOS, System Menu 3.2)
I'm 110% sure I have System 4.0E - so how on earth would I have System Menu 3.2, already installed..?
I i tried Any Title Deleter - but it just gives me errors and won't let me delete anything...

This installer installs fine up until IOS 10...but those after are all error 1017....
Is there anything I can do? I have to add I have NOT managed to add any cIOS...

Thanks in advance - i feel really stupid.

Okay I am by the step from the WADManager. And If I come by the File it sort of freezes I can go back with the "1" button but can't install it for some kinda reason.
Do you guys know why?

EDIT: nvmd.
But I can't come any further by the last step O_o

I'm new, and trying to do this soft modd.

I'm having trouble when it comes to the patchmii downgrader.
On step 7, I chose IOS 35 and ready to go to do the trutcha patch. However when it comes to install; ISO 11 V10? I press A and it goes to "Content 2.2 ID: 00000009..\ and the "\" is working then after lets say 10 seconds maybe? It freezes and then my wii freezes...

I'm wondering what to do next, because I have no idea if it surpose to do that or it surpose to keep doing until it says "All done" or something...

Plese help!
Thank you for your time!~

So if those are missing some IOS, is somebody going to improve the guide or make a new one?

How do you install a cIOS (I mean, I don't even know what that is).

I too get this annoying error, just as you think everything is going as it should, it fails at IOS11 v10, bummer...

I sure hope someone will find a fix to this asap!

Everything fixed, you don't need downgradehelper.bat anymore either

Did you make your app offline working too now? That would be a very needed feature, not everybody has wifi.

This is great info and you guys (Davi92, WiiPower et al...) have done a lot to answer questions and help people out.

This weekend I am planning on hacking my son's Wii. It is an older (LU31) Wii that he has upgraded to 4.0 without any existing homebrew. I do not have any need to downgrade this Wii any more than is necessary. My only goal is to enable HBC for homebrew apps/emulators and USBLoader so he can play his games without using his DVD drive (it's going bad).

Here is what I plan on doing:

1. Install HBC 1.02 using BannerBomb and the HackMii installer.
2. Use "notDVDX34" to modify IOS35.
3. Use WADManager 1.4 to install IOS35-64-v1040.wad (extracted from a game disc).
4. Use WMIOS35 to install cIOS rev9 from a WAD.

Anything wrong or missing from these steps?

Thanks

I just finished (successfully) and now realize that these two steps are actually one step. My step #3 was not needed.

I already have the HBC and I want to downgrade and (it's time I faced this) I am a hacking noob to the max,so if anyone could give me directions how to do this without bannerbomb that'd be awesome.
Also my wii is a launch day wii never sent in,that works right?

Bump (I know it might be spam but I really want an answer I'e been at this for 2 days now)

skip to step 5, start from there.

Put all the apps mentioned into folders on an sd card to use with HBC.

Follow the guide, but launching from hbc in order instead of loadmii.

Edit: on a side note, does notDVDX34 still have the pirate error message? and if not, can this all be done offline now?

notDVDX34 downloads IOS35 content from NUS servers, so you still need to be online (in my experience anyway).
