I dont know if this is the right place but I guess it falls under "General Discussion" but I am scratching my head over this one. Are Dual Layer and Double Layer DVDs different? I think the Wii games are Dual Layer correct? So if a burner is capable we could buy Dual Layer to make Dual Layer backups or are burning these types of games more difficult?

dual & double layer are the same, different ways of saying the same thing.
Both are 8.3 GB I believe.
Just make sure when you burn these you buy the DVD-R DL (not +R's).
They also are more expensive then the single layer 4.7 GB discs.
Pack of 10 might cost 22 bucks, shop around.

burn with imageburn, its free, google it.
The Wii reads both single layer and dual layer discs.
No difference in burning from single layer, will take longer to burn if a game is over 4.7 GB, hence the dual layer.
Almost all Wii games are single layer, except for a couple..............

What ddetkowski says is true, but if you are trying to burn DL games such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl, then I consider you look more into which cIOS is necessary for install. *just an added word [IMG])

Double layers are kinda expensive, I hate it when games get released on those [IMG] the loading times are increased as well... I prefer having a game on 2 discs instead, wouldn't it be cheaper to manufacture it as well?

Smash Bros is a Dual Layer disc. there's no such thing as a Double Layer disc.

but there are Double Sided discs that have have the data on both sides and you turn the DVD over when you get to the end of the first side.

    Wrong and wrong again.

A dual layer recorable DVD is a DVD-R with 2 dye layers on one side.
A double layer recordable DVD is a DVD+R with 2 dye layers on one side.

So, although it is the same, it is different at the same time.

A cat and a dog are animals but they are not the same animals.
