The previous cia compiled by daxtsu on pg 18 works much better but sadly you lose the nice new custom banner and icon :( However, i found a trick, if you simply install the previous cia on top of the most recent you can keep the nicer doom icon.

No work for me, after install the "doom-master.cia" I lose the doom-master banner, I think decryp the cia and rebuilt it is the only way to have the banner

Is there a way in which we can extract the contents from both CIAs, use all of the data from the one that didn't crash which was posted a while ago by @Dahlor, and put the banner and sound from the current CIA release in it, and then repack such CIA?

I have uploaded a RAR with the two CIA files.
  1. prboom3ds.cia - This is the newest CIA build which you can find in the official repo (the one that's prone to crashing)
  2. prboom3ds-master.cia - This is the stable CIA with the generic banner.
I have tried doing so but it seems I'm not doing it right, I don't know how to extract them.. :/
If someone knows a way to do so, please let me know.

For reference what app did you use to install the .cia? fbi, BBM? I don't have much to add to this thread, but I wanted to give it a bump because I love doom and this homebrew port.

Yes that's what I said; you still lose the custom banner but you get to keep the nice new icon. The previous icon is just a blue box.

:O
So it should be like this:

1) Install new CIA from the release page of Github (The one with the nice custom banner) Correct
2) Get the CIA daxtsu posted. Correct
3) Install the daxtsu CIA without deleting the previous one. Correct
4) Profit.

I'll try this as soon as I get home!

Yes, you get the new doom icon + old banner with a more stable build of doom

Okay let's see if this works.

I don't have my N3DS at hand so I can't test this myself, but I managed to extract the banner info (icon, logo and banner along with sounds) from the new CIA and imported it into the Old CIA provided by Dahlor.

Here you have the finished product.

If someone has the time, please try it out and let me know how it works.
It should (in theory) have the new banner, icon, logo and sound of the new CIA and the stability of the old CIA.

Works fine, I play it 3 levels without crashes. Thank you

Were these issues just with the cia? Just wondering as I've only been using the 3dsx and never had any problems.
Apprently, yes, only the CIA version had the crashes as I haven't seen anyone saying they got a crash with the 3DSX version.
I think the newest changes made to the DSP might have something to do with the latest CIA crashes.

Ah, I see.

On a different note, is anyone working on openbor for 3ds? I seem to remember something a year or so ago but haven't heard anything recently.

This version works brilliant! I even got it to display the correct name now, by deleting the previous .cia, exiting the CIA installer, then re-opening the installer and installing the new .cia!

Now we just need a .cia version of ctrQuake!

elhobbs and all who have contributed, just feel I need to say, I think this is by far the greatest piece of homebrew game ever created. You have taken the original pc doom and made it 3d man, glasses free 3d! How is that not awesome? Doom fans everywhere are drooling!!! Thanks for this!
