yes, erm because running at a larger screen size takes more memory.
Oh.. So that just happened..

this comment just shows how you dont know how games work.. doom is 720p docked or undocked(with dynamic resolution scalling to avoid lag like manny games use nowadays) so theres no more memory or recources being spent... the switch just upscales it to 1080p and since the gpu is upclocked by a good margin the upscalling process doesnt do any diference and still saves more gpu power for whatever the game wants, doom is probably more heavy on cpu than gpu wich is why they dont make it up the resolution on docked and decide to stay the same and maybe give you a more stable fps.how does playing docked make it better.
when portable you are playing at a lower resolution and on a smaller screen size.
im sure playing docked on a larger screen would cause more lag, even if it still runs at 720p.
Yeah, that would be like saying that hooking up a Nintendo 64 to a 55" 4K TV would make it output anything more than 240i.this comment just shows how you dont know how games work.. doom is 720p docked or undocked(with dynamic resolution scalling to avoid lag like manny games use nowadays) so theres no more memory or recources being spent... the switch just upscales it to 1080p and since the gpu is upclocked by a good margin the upscalling process doesnt do any diference and still saves more gpu power for whatever the game wants, doom is probably more heavy on cpu than gpu wich is why they dont make it up the resolution on docked and decide to stay the same and maybe give you a more stable fps.
while it doesnt it would be amazing if it did since n64 looks really blury on hd tvs let alone 4k.Yeah, that would be like saying that hooking up a Nintendo 64 to a 55" 4K TV would make it output anything more than 240i.
Emulators. They can increase internal resolution.while it doesnt it would be amazing if it did since n64 looks really blury on hd tvs let alone 4k.
still hope someay we get a clone n64 with atleast 1080p display , i know there are some modded n64 consoles but the modded hdmi is still preety weak, i just want a clone or even a retron console using emulation or not that actualy reads my cartriges and plays them
Would be cool to use it on a game that would fit the resolution such as Cuphead but I don’t know any logical reason to why they implemented itDoes games actually improve framerate with lower resolution? Did anyone actually play Breath of the wild in 480P? Cause I doubt that. No one in 2017 would play a HD intended game with lower resolution unless they had absolutely no choice. Why even have a 480P setting with something that only uses HDMI anyway?
A better comparison would be the WII U virtual console Mega man 2, not Mega Man Anniversary collection.Emulators. They can increase internal resolution.
Retroarch. Megaman 2 through Wii U retroarch looks sharper than Megaman Aniversary collection GC output through Wii U.
I honestly don't know, it is a HD console with only HDMI port, so having a 480P resolution didn't seem to make sense unless there was some good reason. Every other system including wii u has component cable or AV cables. So there probably was a need for it if someone was not using a HDTV, but HDMI is mostly used for HDTV so it stuck me as surprise.Would be cool to use it on a game that would fit the resolution such as Cuphead but I don’t know any logical reason to why they implemented it
You only get lag if your tv is doing the upscaling and if it has a crappy upscaler.how does playing docked make it better.

If it was over cooked then it wouldn't work any more. Also, I never said the GPU is overcooked, I said it's upclocked. It's downclocked by the system when in handheld mode to reduce power draw for better battery life, not for better thermal performance, as the Switch is perfectly capable of keeping itself cool when docked.\
No, I'm comparing different resolutions. Comparing the difference between increasing internal resolution and upscaling. Upscaling will look less sharp, which is why I used the Megman Anniversary Game cube example.A better comparison would be the WII U virtual console Mega man 2, not Mega Man Anniversary collection.
I am quite disappointed with Mario Odyssey. It feels like another 3D World/3D Land kind of limitation. There was so much hype for it being the next 'Big Mario' game but to me it didn't cut the cake. I hope to get into Xenoblade, so far I hear nothing but good about it. Not surprised about Doom performance though. Does the patch make it perform better?Sorry to hear, I wonder if it's just a bug causing it or if they really didn't bother to optimize past a certain point. I'm sure there will be updates so we'll find out I guess. Was this docked? Have you tried portable?
I think it's one of the better Mario games. 3D World was terrible, and could pass for 3D Land DLC.. I never cared for the Galaxy Games.. Odyssey gave me a SM64 like freedom to just go where I wanted. No central hubs or map outside of the Odyssey Destination. Just go. I do wish they would have expanded some of the world's. So much wasted space.I am quite disappointed with Mario Odyssey. Yeah the galaxy games gave me a headache at times, too many rotating camera angles. Are you a fan of the moon collecting mechanic?I think it's one of the better Mario games. 3D World was terrible, and could pass for 3D Land DLC.. I never cared for the Galaxy Games.. Its tedious at times, but something to keep me going. It's better than the classic "reach the end" shtick..Yeah the galaxy games gave me a headache at times, too many rotating camera angles. Are you a fan of the moon collecting mechanic?
