Donkey Kong Bananza Direct - roundup

We finally get to learn more about Donkey Kong Bananza. DK and kid Pauline will team up together in the game, which takes place underground, in order to return back to the surface. It'll have large open levels, and DK can climb walls and break through the level terrain. Rolling, tearing chunks off the ground, and throwing large objects are all new abilities you can use. Cranky and Rambi return, too. Pauline's singing can transform DK into a bunch of different animal forms. The big bads of this game are called the Void Gang. There is voice acting, as Pauline has speaking lines.

There are hidden collectibles, found through exploration or challenges. There are Country-style 2D sections in these challenge courses. The game has a skill tree, where you can power up different aspects of DK. Costumes, ala Super Mario Odyssey, return, where you can dress DK and Pauline up. A second player can control Pauline on Donkey Kong's back, who can shout attacks at enemies.

Amiibo support is in the game. There will be a new DK and Pauline amiibo. The game launches July 17.

Well, I like Odyssey, so a twist and refinement on that is great. Still waiting for true multiplayer for these full 3D games.

Even as just a hidden boss King K Rool has to be in this. Also, I really hope DK finally gets a new moveset for the next Smash. Don't care about Amiibo, but Dixie Kong getting one, could have up her chances for Smash.

has nintendo announced anything else coming soon for the switch 2 besides donkey kong. This looks cool but not cool enough to buy a switch 2. They need to be announcing or releasing more games if they want to increase interest beyond the fanboys that already bought their switch 2's
better wait for mario's 40th anniversary (they're gonna remaster mario 3d land for 80 dollars)

Why, for a DK game which other than DK64, is pretty much rehashing the same game over and over.

Buggery me, its nintendo, all of their so called excellent first party titles are the same thing and has been for decades.

They've gotten that lazy now that they're even directly porting their same old shit and slapping false claims of enhancing them.
I see that you still haven't proven your claims about the enhanced editions

nor how this game is the same as every other game..... except nintendo literally showed everyone that this is clearly a different game.

You know, i think it'll be healthy for you if you were just banned from anything that has Nintendo on it on this site at this point, the derangement syndrome has become terminal and you gotta be put down.

What in the living shit is this the same compared to ANY OTHER DK GAME

This is all of you, y'all ungrateful swines
a woman says i don 't like change .

Game of the year material. Thank you Nintendo for saving videos games (again)
cringiest most american superlative-soapy disneyesc voice ever

Game = collection of features. confirms my feeling of a technical sandbox demo stuck in a boxticking context. Most uninspired game ever.

Multiple types of currencies + the UI that look like smartphone free to play / pay to win shitty games.

What a tragedy.
You just described Donkey Kong 64

The Journalists who hype everything up played Bonanza at the reveal and didn't seem very hype for it, but I guess we will see. I think it looks pretty good at least aesthetically little worried it will be too similar to Mario odyssey from 2017 with a DK coat of paint. The trend towards having a thousand mini challenge rewards in your collection instead of anything substantial was not something I was fond of in odyssey. Stars>moons

I'm also not a fan of Nintendo EADs track record tbh... save games other studios made for them ( ex Metroid dread) everything they have put out has been a bit of a blunder and a fairly braindead baby game.... the lack of any challenge / reward incentive to actually do anything is an issue what what they have been putting out since 2015... I think the best thing they made by themselves was Mario Maker 2.

Even the big Nintendo Youtubers had very mixed opinions on that demo. Seems like they just locked them in a super basic area of the game with very little to do.

I like everything about it other than the visuals. There's something just off about it that I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe the colour palette? I dunno.

There it is, the new GOTY
Game of the year material. Thank you Nintendo for saving videos games (again)
Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The gameplay looks really fun and I'm sure the level design will be solid, but I doubt the game will be much of a challenge, and the story seems as basic as basic gets. It'll probably end up winning best platformer, but it stands little chance head-to-head against Expedition 33 for GOTY.
