Okay, this is the current state.

I got dolphin, it works fine, it can open .iso games, but the big problem is with wads.

I did alot of annoying steps with NUS downloader, and was able to make the "Load Wii system menu" feature work, and then I tried to work my Pokemon Battle Revolution.wad to work by going to the "Load Wii system menu" and choosing it.

The problem is, when I select, Pokemon Battle Revolution, dolphin crashes.

...Am I missing something?...

Thank you in advance :)

Uh ... Pokémon Battle Revolution as a .wad ?

.....What's your point? is there anything wrong with that?... I would give you a download link to prove it if you're doubting, but posting rom/iso/wad, etc download links isn't allowed on this site =/

My point is, it's supposed to be a disc game, hence, NOT a .wad. So unless you meant another game/format, I kinda hold doubts about this file.

Don't you guys think you're getting a little off track? I haven't gotten a single answer for my problem...

And Fyrus, I DO mean Pokemon battle revolution and I DO mean .wad, I was able to make "Pokemon Rumble.wad" work before, but that's kinda out of the loop, it's size is way different from other wads...

Fyrus, please do me a favor and learn a bit more about what files dolphin can read (no offence).

@Bladexdsl : I asked for solutions to my problem, NOT for you to decide stupid things -.-

...Just so you know

Pokémon Rumble IS NOT Pokémon Battle Revolution
One is a WiiWare title, coming on a .wad format, the other is a retail disc, and SHOULD come in a .iso format.

Do me a favor and re-read your posts.

That's what I get for being concerned about suspicious files ...

Wow, guess you turned out more knowledgeable than me, huh? although it may make me seem like an extreme noob, I never knew there was a difference between a Wii retail game and a WiiWare game :shy:

But even though that's true and it does start to seem suspicious, I was able to find lots of Wii games that are in .WAD format, Legend of Zelda twilight princess being an example.

Fyrus, please do me a favor and learn a bit more about what files dolphin can read (no offence).

^ Sorry about that :shy:

I never heard of retail games going to .wad format as of now, neither does it show up on my download sources as this.
Most retail games comes out as .iso, or as .wbfs, hence why those .wad seems suspicious to me.

My point wasn't to make you look like an idiot, just to make you understand that. Since you managed to boot one "legit" .wad successfully (Rumble), it look like it's these .wad that are faulty, and do not contain any game.

...Speaking of which...Wouldn't those .wad be actually ... channels ? How heavy are those ?

Yeah, now that you mention it, they're the ones that seem out of the loop, the normal iso would usually be at an average of 4 GB, while my pokemon battle evolution wad is only 700 KB....pretty odd....

BUT, although they're sucpicious, I asure you that they do contain the game. I checked a list of Wii games that you can get in .wad format ....and it also had "channel forwarders" or something like that, not sure what hose are though...

...And pokemon battle revolution is on that list.

I'm not really a pro with Wii, homebrewing, and wads (I'm more of an NDS game hacker), so I don't know what a channel is and what it's used for, but I guess I'll discover what it means if it's important in solving my issue..

...I feel like such a noob X_X ....

these are NOT games but forwarders to the games you have on you HDD, probably made with Crap/Loadstuctor, you can install the channel and it uses the configured USB Loader to boot the game off the HDD, presuming you have the game on your HDD to start with

The can ONLY be used with the Wii, a little more research and less bitching would do some good IMHO

Oh my

Hello friends!!!

Here is the List of all the Wii games - Channel forwarder[In this download] to be installed VIA Wad Manager on your console. This will add a channel on your Wii Menu{uses 5-9 blocks of your console's internal memory}.These channels have been created using Loadstructor for games to be booted from your HDD.
All these channel WADS have been tested working on an NTSC-U 4.1 console and I have made these Region Free using FreeTheWads software. So its safe to install on any region console.
Enjoy!!!

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I started thinking of forwarders as well, hence why I asked for the sizes.

Though, I don't know if that link is allowed, you might want to remove it before a mod see it.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
