Really odd question I know, it's just I've realised I unzip all of my GBA/NDS stuff into seperate folders, but I'm really not sure if there's any benefit to this?

Should I zip 'em all back up again? :E

I've never used anything else. NDScrc was the first one I found and tried and I haven't had any need to look for anything better.

Is there anyway of adding numerous files to zip at a time? Like a batch file or somesuch?

If you're using WinRAR:
1. Select all the files in Windows.
2. Right-click and select Add to archive
3. Change Archive Format to ZIP
4. On the Files tab, check Put Each File to Separate Archive
5. Do whatever other options you want and click OK

One final question (sorry!) - I've got quite a few roms that have come up as unknown; one or two are understandable (they're hacks of existing games) but there's also a good few that work just fine and are definitely the original ROMs.

How do I force the program to detect it as the game?

Also, anyway to automatically download pictures and nfo files for the games I already have?

In settings there a checkbox that says "Get Pictures/Nfo". This will download them when you Update. However, it gets all of them, whether you have the game or not.

As for the undetectable games; I suppose you could try editing the ADVANsCEne_NDScrc.xml file to include the games. But I'm sure it would be overwritten the next time you update.

Yeah, I've actually got several folders that make up a sort of on-the-fly system I created for keeping track of what I've played, etc. First, I have two main folders where I keep regular ROMs, and the other for Japanese-import ROMs. When I de-compress them, I send them to a folder I call "UnZipped ROMs"; then when I trim them they again go to a "Trimmed ROMs" folder -- one for regular ROMs, one for imports. This especially helps with keeping track of the imports I've tried, since it's hard to remember what's what with the titles in Japanese.

Thanks again, maybe I should just get them again to ensure they're correct.

Is there a similar thing for GBA games btw?
Copy ndscrc.exe and ndscrc1.ini to another folder.
Then open the new copy of ndscrc1.ini and change GBAMode to 1 in the [DAT] section.
When you start the new copy of ndscrc.exe it will tell you advanscene_gba.xml is missing and ask if you want to download the latest version.

I put them all in separate folders, together in one big folder.
I also put the boxart for the preview thumbnail.
here's how it looks:
