Neimod is still making progress. If someone else were to be working on it, we would be the first to know. He stated that it can only be hacked through an exploit (as far as he knows). Here is the source, http://pastebin.com/SsVzL8x2

"[18:43:35] i don't think homebrew on 3ds is going to be possible at all"
"[18:43:58] and i'm 99.9% certain when i say that"
"[18:56:30] a tiny ram interposer for example, would do the trick"
"[18:56:44] but that's something not everybody can do at their home"

Edit - P.S. It means we are looking at an exploit rather than a flashcard.

We can't say if or when but some teams claim to have managed it, but at what cost.

It may not be financially viable.

If a solution becomes available there are lots of things to consider as to whether someone would release it because of the possible legal consequences, if you remember GeoHot

I think the 3DS will be hacked when the next Nintendo handheld console comes out. Kind of like DSi mode.

No. And that's a really good thing. Nintendo's financial situation isn't the best already, and thiefs are the last thing on earth Nintendo needs. B-)

nintys financial troubles are not bad , you hear that? its me, im playing the worlds tiniest violin for nintys lost profits
and any money they loose will be because the company has gone straight down the shitter the last few years every decision they make is a major fuk up
they need serious restructuring

and flashcard companies could be working behind the scenes without anyone knowing

Yeah but word spreads pretty quick when something happens. Almost nothing stays a secret til release.

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.

Free release can have loopholes where they still make money through ads
