I think the PSP isn't a fail, but the PSP GO is a fail.
There are a few standout games and it has nice features, I prefer the DS and use it more often but the PSP is still a good system

i think it's not right if the we says PSP is a failure based only on the fact that whether you can play ISO or not

yes UMD is a fail one, Sony always do this kind of stupid thing (makes their own media and try to force it to be used universally)

but PSP still a good system we can't just comparing PSP and DS as both have their own pros and cons

as for games, if you can't find something new, maybe you could try playing some unlocalized japanese tittle, or maybe explore the old PSone games
and there's also an information regarding the highly anticipated games, the MHF3

The only thing I'm looking forward to on the psp is P3P.

This system has been a shitty investment. None of hte games on it I like very much except a small small handful like Jeanne d'Arc and Dungeon Explorer or Wipeout or whatever

Marketing wise? Yeah, the PSP bombed. At least the first 4 years. Now? Eh, it could've been better.
Gaming-wise? Nah, not really. Took a while, but even if just for emulation, the PSP is good.

Should've been a poll.

I don't think standard PSPs are fails, but the PSP GO is a giant fail. Soon PSPs will have support for all media, more RAM and memory for the Internet Browser, and a camera. But they will take out the feature that was called 'games', because no one will use it anymore.

In most ways, yes.

The PSP's 2010 software lineup is disappointing, to say the least.

Do you know where I could see a list of the 2010 lineup (including JP releases)?

http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/psp/releases.html

Wait, why isnt Monster Hunter 3 Portable on that list? I could swear it was coming out this year.

While GameFAQs are a decent indicator of what's coming out, it is by no means final. Not to mention some companies like Bandai don't announce games until a few months before their release. All entries are contributor based, and contributors get their info from gaming blogs like Kotaku or retail websites like Amazon/Gamestop which are equally uninformed. Not to mention the contributors get the info/genre incorrect 80% of the time.

But yeah, going by that list it does seem pretty weak. Also WTF Disgaea Infinite coming to the US?

the PSP has always been an Epic fail.
most games for it suck
only good for homebrew and PS1

But heres your problem, most likely.
The game ID needs to be SLPS-03147 and you need to load it using POPS 3.80. To change which POPS it boots with, when you start the game hold SELECT.

His problem is that he's not using the default game id? I think not....

THE PSP HAS ALWAYS BEEN MORE THAN AN EPIC FAIL!

The disk drive fails so hard.

Their is fail everywhere!

Best use for it is PS1 eboots, playing back ups/homebrew and it is a decent Portable Media player.

Internet browser fails.
The fact that 1 in 100,000 people owned a PSP camera fails.
Everyone else just stares blankly at the camera icon on their PSP's.

So many pictures fit this situation perfectly, but I think this one will do the job.

psp is good, great games on it

patapons
.Hack//Link
monster hunter
Dissidia and crisis core(somewhat good i must say)
Gundam Vs Gundam
Kingdom hearts
Persona 1 and 3

i could add some more but the idea is that the psp. isnt. fail.

but i agree that the go was a terrible move

Failure no, not entirely at all. Sure the UMD movie market was overpriced and stupid, kinda fair now at $10 or less but too little too late. Games though, anything but fail. All there was is the DS and the PSP in this time frame. Now look at the existing line of quality releases on both systems, PSP has some better offerings. Sure Nintendo has more and various games rated high, surely higher than deserved with a few like the Zeldas, but the PSP percentage wise has a far nicer and diverse non-touch forced, non-kiddy license driven selection of good things to do with more to come. All said though it's the first generation where Nintendo has lost as much of a cut of the handheld market on the global scale to another company and that says plenty too. PSP sales are stagnant outside of Asia, but there they still move great.

i really think sony could make the GO much better, if they just made it so if you own a UMD, you can get a digital version for free...
That's the move that really should've done with the Go!

PSP =/= Fail

PSP Go! = Fail - no offense to Go! owners.

until of course, CFW 6.20 comes out...
