Thank you for the suggestion. Open Tyrian seems a good game to port to 3ds. It has the right screen resolution, sources are in c and sdl, and there are only a couple of shotemup homebrew available for the 3ds
Does this mean you may try to port it? That would be so awesome.

Released a new version of ZeldaPicross and of Griffon Legend. Both the two are almost final.

Now I'm completing the port of Powder.

Personally, I would like to see more home computer emulators.

We have nearly all the best handheld and consoles on the 3DS but hardly any home computer emulators. I can only think of two we have at the moment.
We don't have any Spectrum, Amstrad or Amiga emulators and the 3DS is perfect for home computer emulation
Top screen would obvious be for playing the game but the bottom screen would be for an on-screen keyboard. Hell even the DS has more home computer emulators than the 3DS and it puzzles me why anyone hasn't made any for the 3DS

And before anyone says why don't I stop winning and make any, there are a few reasons why I can't

Cool man! Powder would be awsome!

Ported and compiled. Obviusly it crashes as every port at it's very first run, so now I have to trace errors and debug the code.

Powder seems like a really neat rogue-like, can't wait to play it.
Also thank you @nop90 for your work. Among the sea of hax, tools and game mods it's refreshing to see some good ol' homebrew game ports.

Im still wondering if half life 3(ds) is a possible port, as there is source code out there for the half life engine and such

I think the 3ds would shit itself trying to actually run source, though i could be wrong. What we do have though is a port of quake that is a remake and runs on 3ds.

yea, although it probably would take quite a bit of porting the engine. I don't really code anymore, especially with other things in my life now that tend to take up time (and It gets kind of nit-picky for me, so not too much of a hobby)

what i'd really love is a mugen port ( rpg maker but for fighting games where you can download chars from the net and apply them to your game )

Yes, we do need homebrew.
Too bad C is hardly an easy language, and homebrew possibly isn't THAT rewarding.
I'd love to do something but programming in C is not my thing...

I wish places today actually taught C instead of every other language...

I think that we do need some new homebrews. Things like original games and ports are interesting and I love discovering new games I've either never heard of or never played.

I'm pretty pleased overall where the 3DS stands in the homebrew scene. All the crucial and highly desired (while realistic) homebrew apps and emulators have been made for the device, while the 3DS itself has been hacked wide open. I think the answer to the question is the same as what I'd say about homebrew on the Wii/vWii, at this point, we don't need new homebrew for the system, however, new homebrew will always be appreciated by me, especially for the more interesting things that pop up.

well this is kinda awesome you can do these stuff XD
I would request an virtuall boy emulator that runs in 3D (for Ds, of course lol) and can change the palette o3o I have o idea how hard is to something like this to work lol
if you where willing to make games I have some ideas, but all I can do is the artistic part :x

This is a lot of work if you consider that I don't like playing games, I only like coding
how this can be??? lololol

At this point I want ask the community if are there enough people liking other homebrew for the 3ds (both original or ported from other systems) or if what people really want are only new commercial games for their hacked console.

In my free time (really not so much) I'm working on a lot of projects: just finished the port to 3ds of 3 games from the Retroguru team; almost finished Zelda Picross and Griffon Legends ports; Zelda 3T is at 70%; I'm planning to start from scratch a new Atari 2600 emulator that could reach better performances on a o3ds than the one I made a year ago. And in my to do list there are other great games like Mario Wars or Alex the Allegator.

This is a lot of work if you consider that I don't like playing games, I only like coding.

At the moment there are a lot of things I can learn coding on the 3ds platform, but believe me there are a lot of other platforms other than the 3ds on which I could spend time.

One of this days I could start a project for an original game on a retroconsole like GBC or maybe GBA, or I could swap to coding to PSVITA (my son doesn't use its PSVITA anymore), or even better I could start an original game with the support of the guys at Retroguru Team.

So, let see how may Tempers think that people like me or the other dev of this community (some really better than me at coding) should continue to make new homebrews for the 3ds.

Thank you in advance, I really need some motivation.

Create a MEDIA PLAYER! we need that! :) it would be awesome, you could move to Wii U Scene too, and make a Media Player!!! Please, someone make a MEDIA PLAYER!!!!
