Imo 8bitdo is the choice for Switch2 controller, yes they are seen as Switch1 Pro Controller but you can remap the chat button of you need it and I can live with the fact that you can't wake the console from sleep.
Besides that, they've got hall effect sticks and very good d-pads, also they are way cheaper than Nintendo pro controller.

I was going to stick with my Switch 1 Pro Controller until I tried a friend's Switch 2 Pro Controller and now I can't go back.

I don't particularly care for the back buttons [GL and GR], but the sticks feel so much better and the weight distribution is also much improved. Even the buttons and directional pad feel better, though that may be because my old one has been used a lot and no longer feels that good.
I heard the D-pad is still just as bad.
I think I'll stick with my 8bitdo rather than paying $125 for a controller that will drift...

I like it very much, the sticks especially feel incredible.
The Dpad and the + and - buttons also feel smoother then on the old pro.
With so many great controllers out there, there's little reason to buy a Switch 2 Pro Controller.

"Pro" controller, but no analog triggers.

Need a 3d printed holder for the joycons with hinges to actuate the joycon side buttons.

The switch 2 actually lets you map those side buttons; gaining you most of the features of the pro controller plus 2 additional back buttons.

A lot of better controllers for the money, but Switch 2 Pro Controller does have some unique features right now:

Wakes the Switch 2 (only like one 3rd party that does this atm.)
Grip button assignments are remembered per-game
Improved HD rumble
Zero friction rolling around edges of analogs

I did somehow win the d-pad lottery so it is possible, though I'd still rather use the 8bitdo for sidescrollers.

As someone who doesn't play racing games I find analogue triggers annoying. Nintendo's digital shoulder buttons feel more satisfying to press.

They didn't fix the dpad. I tried the controller in a kiosk and while the rubber domes of the buttons do feel lighter and snappier the dpad false diagonals are still there unfortunately :/ What a joke

Medical advice: You shouldn't sleep on ANY controller. It's bad for both your back and the controller itself. Sleeping (or even just laying) on it is not covered as a recommended use case for a controller. :teach:

Seriously, though, I can't for the life of me warm up to the idea of shelling out money for a "Pro" controller that doesn't feature analog (as in not digital) triggers. Not in 2025.

Analog triggers are also used for shooting games and with digital "triggers" it goes from 0 to 100.

Not sure how you find it satisfying, but okay.

The switch 2 generously lets you use all sorts of Adaptors so it has great controller support. You can use a Xbox pad or a Gamecube controller.

I don't think anyone should waste money on Nintendos overpriced crappy pro controllers.

Luckily for you, it does have digital triggers!
Good! Analog triggers scare me with their abundance of possible states. Good old "pressed" and "not pressed" is all I ever asked for.

Seriously though, thanks for the hint. I edited my post now so that it reflects what I actually meant to say.

My wallet will gladly sleep on the switch 2 controller
Still reaffirm what I said in here before. My wallet will sleep on this controller until there's either a Splatoon Raider limited edition, or an eventual Splatoon 4 limited edition.

I don't feel like Splatoon will get mouse control as it would need every single player to relearn the controls.
