Do controller extension cables have noticeable lag?

I'm thinking of buying a Smash Bros controller when it comes out, but the cable seems kinda short, even with the Gamecube adapter. Are there noticeable big lags if you use the cables?

Extension cables that are actually cables (instead of having active electronic repeaters) do not add any lag, compared to just cutting off the original cable and replacing it with a longer one (which is still not significant for any realistic length you can achieve with an extension cable before the signal gets too weak for the communication between console and controller to work)
