Hey, just a thought, would it be possible to get classic controllers to work by running gamecube games in a virtual machine in Wii mode and just using high level emulation for the few commands that wouldn't match up? (Kinda like what Virtual PC does, the other operating system MOSTLY runs it's code natively but HLE is used for the few commands that only the operating system can run and Virtual PC isn't the OS.) This might be what Devolution is planning to do so I might be asking this in the wrong place but is that too much of a change to add it into DML ... or is it even possible?

That is kind of what DML does though there is no real difference in Gamecube and Wii mode except the CPU clock speed. The issue with USB loading is that all USB access must go through a region of memory on the Wii called MEM2. Unfortunately, MEM2 is what the Wii uses to "emulate" Gamecube ARAM. I am pretty sure the same is also true of the Wii's Bluetooth/Wiimote stuff as well. Obviously both Gamecube games and the Wii's USB/Bluetooth hardware can't use the exact same memory area, it does not appear to be possible to get it to work for more than a handful of games (and even those will have severe issues including speed, sound, and memory card support).

Well, I am one of the lucky people who call an original Gamecube controller their property and though it is more than 10 years old it's in very good shape, almost as if it is new. I also had a few GC controllers from third-party companies and trust me, they didn't last long. Unfortunately original controllers are very expensive these days so I can see why people want to use alternate controllers for GC games.

Hmm, that's interesting. Actually, around here at least a wired Gamecube controller is cheaper than the Wii classic controller. Of course it's a no-name brand one and a wireless controller is near impossible to find anymore.

Anyway, my idea was a little more like since I understand the Wii has more RAM than a Gamecube, force Gamecube mode to use an upper section of normal memory as ARAM (although I don't really know how much more space there is or is really needed for that.) or I was thinking you could have the gamecube code run in a virtual machine (assuming a PowerPC can actually do that.) and have the processor still running at full Wii clock speed. Maybe you could use the extra clock cycles to keep the Gamecube code thinking it's still being run in Gamecube mode and redirect all the memory stuff.

It probably isn't even possible but in just kind of a vague, theoretical way it all sounded okay in my head.

I'm in the same boat, I never unplug my GC controller and it's still in a great shape, I bought several GC controllers at the day, some original and others third party, the third party ones are as good as they don't exist but the original ones work just fine, I got like 5-6 original ones plus 3 GC memory cards with one of them being 4 times bigger than a normal one, yes it's original not third party, I loved the GC at the time and I can see I don't regret buying all these stuff back than!

I can't buy stuff online, that's the issue, I always have to go out and look at stores and most of the time I can't find what I want!

That's a shame...

You can get the latest DML version "DML59mod.rar" from here: http://www.mediafire...qk17b9hubiki4v7
Extract and run "create_wad.bat" to get the latest DMLr59mod[MIOS-v10].wad which can be installed with a wad manager

PS: you can still use this pack for future releases as well by just replacing the file dml.elf and re-creating the wad

( Thanks Damysteryman for the modified elf & Thanks Fix94 for making this handy tool)
Hey, what options are enabled on this by default? nodisk? nmm? etc.? any?
Just the default options (which IIRC are Cheats:ON, NMM:OFF, and NoDisc:OFF).

damysteryman to answer your question, yes the other Pokemon region fixes have actually already been added into the next commit.
DML has been going through.. well, I guess you could say we've done a bit of restructuring, so I thought I'd let you all know that there will be a big update either today or tomorrow.
Nice to know. :)

Looking forward to this next commit to svn.

The "new" DML will be on its own googlecode page, crediar asked me if that would be ok and yeah, why not.

First post will be updated when the new googlecode page is live.

Will the other site be closed down to avoid confusion?

Also... what will we see with "new" DML compared to the "old" DML?

It's own page, ha? Sounds like a really big update!!

worked like a charm still waiting for 2 disk support(mainly RE:remake and 0)

Those two were released on Wii, you can play them fine with USB Loader!

How do I do this:

This is USM Loader GX with DML support http://www.mediafire...c5c1c07nmdwsa5f and here's NeoGamma with DML nodisk support http://www.mediafire.com/?zk1mr3kh9y1c03y

dml r58 i got slowndowns and sound slowdown in the menus in F-Zero gX i have an

Sandisk Sdhc Extreme Class 10
If you are talking about the music sounding garbled during the menus, this is an issue that sometimes would happen with the original disc also. I've noticed that with DML and my Lexar 32GB Class 10 card, this doesn't happen anymore. However, I do experience significant lag loading the cup sub-menus, compared to the original disc. This slowdown does not occur with an otherwise lower performing Patriot 4GB Class 4 card, but I would much rather use the bigger capacity card. In essence, the issue here is the read speed of the card you are using.
