Hacking Did my 3ds just brick?

I went to update it after not ian g it for awhile and now when I turn it on it says an error has occurred failed to apply 1 firm patch press any button to shut down.

Am I screwed or is they're a way I can fix this?

You need to update your Luma to the latest version.

Oh sorry thanks. I updated when their was an update prompt, are you typically only suppose to update through the system settings or does it matter cuz I was told you should never update when promoted and I forgot about that.

An update from settings is the same as an update from the prompt.
