I have now flashed so many DSs (9 and counting, all lites) that i dont even consider it a risk anymore. It was the same for softmodding xbox originals, lots of people just didnt know howto RTFM and bricked their xbox...
Sure the virus for the ds isn't in the wild anymore, but who knows when someone will eventually screw up your bios with something else. So this is just another /simple/ way of having some peace of mind (especially for those out there that get their roms from somewhere else besides a retail cartridge in hand.
Also the key combos now available to boot to either the slot1, slot2 or nintendo menu... that is a nice feature.
And that warning screen was just too annoying to live with (not to mention the "cool" factor when showing off the ds to friends)
