Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to check the code to make sure it's actually doing what it's supposed to.
(I don't actually have a classic controller myself so anyone else who can confirm this it would help me a lot.)

EDIT : looking at the code I can see no reason why it wouldn't set the option correctly. Does the modded GX version that was posted give you the same problems?
I thought that version wasn't actually posted; he said he wanted to fix the string issue first. I could try the Wiiflow plugin and report back.

I think this is the post where he ended up posting it. What he didn't want to post was the code ... but he eventually did anyway.
Nintendo Maniac
OK, I have reverted that string "fix" and it has stopped crashing. Normally I have to upload the source along with the .dol, but here is the .dol without the string anyway. (I will upload source for everyone once I get the string name working)

I can confirm that with that modified GX it does work! So I have no clue what's up about yours that isn't working.
okay, that's very odd. I'll see what I can do then. Do the other settings like "widescreen" and "no drive light" turn on and off correctly for you in my loader mod when you change the settings from N to Y and back and such?

I can confirm that widescreen and drive light correctly toggle. Haven't tested the others.

First of all, I'm amazed that this works on Wii U so well - thanks for the fantastic dev work! My question - using r200, when I start Wind Waker on my Wii U, I'm not asked to select progressive scan mode - I remember being presented this option with the previous release on Wii. Is there something I need to set to enable progressive scan mode on Wii U? Thanks again!

Edit: I'm going to answer my own question here - using the Wii Classic Controller, after starting the game, I pushed Home to switch to active mode, and then I held the "Y" button CC, which corresponds to the "B" button on the GameCube controller, which is how you turned on progressive scan on the GameCube. Looks MUCH better now! :)

Yay. I got it working on my Wii U. Now I have two questions.

1. Is there a way to change button mapping back to how it was on the original gamecube controller? With the current settings it's B = A and Y = B. It feels kinda awkward.

2. I don't have an external hard drive for Wii U yet. So I'm using an SD card. Now I know that Wii games don't work with an SD card on usb loader gx. But what about gamecube games? I tried it but none of the games are showing up on it.

In GX go into the settings and find the custom paths sections, change your GC path to SD :/games (Or wherever you out your isos)

EDIT: Also make sure GX is allowed to show GC games

I tried it, and I can't seem to change any of the loader paths! When I click on it, it says error.

So with this allowing the Wii U pro controller to play the GC games on Devolution on actual Wiis, can this knowledge be transferred to emulators and homebrew on regular Wiis so they can be played with Wii U pro controllers as well? I don't have a Wii U, but right now Best Buy has a great deal on Wii U pro controllers ($25), so I'm considering getting one if it turns out they can be used in homebrew and emulators on my Wii.

Hey tueidj, are you considering adding disk support (for say, if we want to play original GameCube games with the Devolution features without backing up to USB or SD)?

Disk support would be VERY beneficial - I have both a Wii and a Wii U, and my hard drive for Gamecube games is on the Wii U, but the Wii has no hard drive (or SD card at the moment). It would be nice to have natural disk support - it would be just like loading from the Disk Channel: Running directly from the GameCube disk with Devolution features added. (Wii Classic Controller, virtual saves, widescreen, etc.)

You don't even have a spare USB flash drive layout around?

I do, but I have other uses for it. I only have two games, so I would rather just load from a disk but with Devolution features.

I use an SD card with my Wii U (a 4gb one, for that matter). I only use it to play Super Mario Sunshine and Mario Kart: Double Dash, so having disk loading on my regular Wii would be worthwhile.

Especially with his stance on AP and needing an original disc, tueidj might consider eventually adding something like this. But it's definately not a priority. I guess your only solution atm would be to use Dios Mios. While there's no extended controller support, you do get widescreen, virtual memcard, etc. It's the only thing close.

An uncompressed GC game is only 1.35GB, so at most you'd only need a 4GB drive. Even then, some games can actually be trimmed via Wiimms ISO Tools and others by DiscEx and still be verified by Devolution, meaning if you're lucky you could get away with needing only a 1GB flash drive.

I have found another game that has a trigger bug. Rogue Squadron 3. When starting any ground mission, the character starts out crouched. You have to mash the triggers a few times to get him to un crouch. I wonder if the root cause is the same as Luigis Mansion.
