Has anyone tried third party controllers yet? I tried using my pro commander U but all 4 leds stayed lit up and it wouldn't do anything. Sure would like to use it

Rats...after lots of trial and error, I can only get one of two of my games to work on my family wii.(I got five...but at this rate, I'm not making much progress).
Here's what I can mention for sure so far:
-the games' location is also stored somehow. The disc verification needs to be on the exact same medium
-the wiimote you use for synchronisation on your first wii must always be around on the family wii (or wiiu).
-on the plus side: if you use memory card emulation, there's a 'memcard.bin' in \apps\gc_devo. This one can be copied around without issues whatsoever. I had it since some revisions ago, and it still works perfectly no matter what wii I'm trying it on.
-nope...the family wii DEFINATELY cannot read gamecube discs. Not even the first four sectors (or how much ever it actually needs to scan).

Things I'm not sure about:
-I think the latest postloader (4.4.10) isn't working with it properly. Thus far, all my attempts with it end in a black screen (then again, I usually go with the own program instead).
-the timing of when you enable the wiimote when verifying may be extremely important. I started a game (Eternal darkness) with the disc already in the drive. Result: I may have noticed too late that my wiimote got desynced while it was verifying it. Result: I can now play the game on the old wii but it keeps wanting to verify on the new one.
-(totally unsure) perhaps xneek also meddles with attempting to transfer between wiis?
I've got to say that the shortcuts are pretty nifty once you get used to it (home: swap between active and inactive. When inactive, some button combo's allow for quite some action). But still...there REALLY needs to be more user feedback on that loader. The buttons are skewed up on a classic controller (as mentioned here before), so when either the loader or the game asks you to press A, B, X or Y, you ACTUALLY have to press respectively B, Y, A or X. It kind of makes sense if you look at the gamecube controller (where the 'A' button is in place of the B button), but man...I'm already thinking of just using wite out and permanent marker on those damn buttons.
EDIT:
drakorex: I have a third party PS3-controller around here. I'll see if that does anything once I got more certainty on the things mentioned above...
As for third party wiimotes...I hope those guys have better luck than I did.

Lol at making people jump through all them hoops just to play a few GameCube games on a Wii/Family Wii/WiiU... Im happy I still have my GameCube console here working just fine (Touch wood it NEVER fails me so that I EVER have to resort to this crap..).
Groose!![]()
Personally, I enjoy being able to load games off an SD/USB HDD. There's more to this than being able to play gamecube games, but being able to play them without swapping discs, which means if you're traveling you don't have to carry a bunch of games with you lightening your travel load.
Dont get me wrong, I see the benefits. Its just the hoops he has in place if you decide to use his software/app/program/whatever. ATM I have a Wii U, So Im unable to jump through his hoops even if I wanted to. Luckily I still have my GameCube console, Which is better than nothing I suppose.
Yes. Except for two things:Lol at making people jump through all them hoops just to play a few GameCube games on a Wii/Family Wii/WiiU... Im happy I still have my GameCube console here working just fine (Touch wood it NEVER fails me so that I EVER have to resort to this crap..).
Currently it's theorized that this is limited by the issues with AHBPROT on the Wii U. Consider however that you can make a family Wii even run a GC game though the system menu via a 3-inch disc expander. Can you make disc verification through WiiU?

If you Hold RESET when Devolution starts booting the game you can reset the whole process, as said in the README.Phew...to add to my earlier post: I found out where things went wrong. It wasn't on devolution's end (okay...I still say that the verification method should require user input. A simple "about to verify the disk. Please insert the original game. If you want to use this disk on a different wii or wiiu, connect a wiimote of that device now" when the front disk starts blinking blue should suffice).
-postloader (4.4.9) cannot handle it for now. Neither with nor without verification works. I'm using the loader itself for now (haven't tested with wiiflow).
-in case you accidentally verified without having the wiimote connected, you need to delete the corresponding .dvv file in \apps\devolution and try again
-when starting an unverified game, DO NOT HAVE THAT GAME IN THE DRIVE YET. Wait for the drive to start blinking, then sync that one wiimote, then insert the drive.
-on the new wii(u), when the drive starts blinking blue, connect the wiimote. Also: have some patience. It'll seemingly do nothing for about a minute. It isn't frozen.
There...that should do it (if not for someone else, at least for mental notes for myself).
Tomorrow, I'll see if I can get that D3mon PS3 connector working. After that, I'll write out a more thorough guide from beginning to end.![]()

BTW whoever said Nintendon't had competition, bud it's the other way around. Nintendon't just stepped up in this arena and still in it's infancy, Crediar is amazing and I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot from his program as well, but remember as it stands, this is the titan which all other GC loaders will be compared to.
