Regardless if you are a fanboy or a hater, lets be honest for one minute, in its current state Devolution is just some sort of a "lite" version of DM (pun intended :P). Game compatibility is apparently not as good as DM's, there are texture issues, no video force options, no cheats(?). DV has audio streaming working but apparently this will not be a devolution exclusive feature anymore soon. BUT, here is the thing, it has potential to become great once the other promising features have been completed. Particulary I look forward to find out how well Wiimote support will work (especially with ego-shooters).

There's also the whole "ease of use" thing. No need for multiple nands...

SifJar There's no way to disable the wiikey without removing it (soldering it out). (saying that, it seems it has it's own rip feature built in (wiikey dvdDump), maybe that would be worth a test) still it seems very odd that 1 game is verified (Namely Mario ) and the rest are rejected.
dancemonkey I'll let you know if it works, with using the wiikey ripper (it would make sense if it compensates for the wiikey being present when ripping (if not I'd state that Devolution DRM is not compatible with, at least Wiikey installed drives)

Good tip from thevoiceover!!!!!! Devolution does not like Region Override turned on... Load up your Wiikey Config disc and turn off Region Override it will then authenticate your disc!!!

dios mios doesn't need multiple nands... in fact, last time I checked DML (and prolly DM) worked without an emulated NAND at all

I think he's referring to using DML in one NAND and DM in another one (or in real NAND which would still count as the first NAND) in order to run off of both SD and USB (something that Devolution can do all by itself.)

This makes sense. AFAIK, the region override stuff will change the game ID to make it look like it's from the right region for your Wii, which would make it different to the ID in the ISO.

Is there a region free ID for GC games? That would make more sense as the game I ripped was PAL on a PAL Wii.

That would do it. It's a good thing it's something you can turn off. A priiloader hack will make the system menu just ignore that anyhow so there's not much of a loss.

SifJar The odd thing though, is that Wii region override is the only one you need to switch off, GC override can still be active.
Just wondering if the priiloader and Wiikey region alteration to game ID clashes. oh well works now anyhow.

That's interesting. I kinda remember there being an app I used to use to try to region switch GC disk images before burning them and what it showed on the screen didn't have anything to do with the GameID. I think there are some other disk attributes that can be changed. That might be what it's doing ... I would GUESS that those attributes are not present on a Wii disk and so it has to tamper with the GameID ... and then just happens to change the GameID on the GC disks, too.

Anyway, the PriiLoader hacks shouldn't clash. All they do is alter the system menu app when loading it so that it doesn't pay any attention to the game region. From what I'm reading here, the modchip changes the region so that even if they system menu looks at it, it can't tell the difference.

Hmm, that is a little odd. Perhaps the way Devolution reads it is the way the system menu reads Wii disc IDs? (And SM reads GC disc IDs in a different way). Just a guess, I'd say the only person who could say for sure is tueidj.

EDIT: Or it could be to do with what maxternal posted above. I never had a GC so I don't really know much about that side of things.

I had a issue earlier where the Devo loader worked perfectly - but any other loader (WiiFlow and CFG) were not keeping the verification (had to insert the disc each time).
Finally resolved it after a lot of things tried - but what I think did it in the end was updating from d2x v6 to d2x v9 on slots 249/250 w/ base 56/57 (used those from some other post a while back that I came across while searching)
After I did that, all the loaders I've tried have worked with the AP verification.
Note - I reserve the right to be 100% wrong :) I did try many other things in the process of debuging this, but that was the latest change I had made and now everything works.

This could be. I haven't updated those particular cIOS since around the time of the wiiflow mod split.

EDIT: Is there a quick way to get all the d2x slots updated? Or, if not, a guide of which specific ones need updating?

Sorry I didn't get to reply earlier (yay for being at work :) )
I just followed the instructions here - http://code.google.com/p/d2x-cios/w/list - for installing the d2x v9 files.
Only did the 2 slots with related bases I noted above. Took all of 5 minutes.

I can't say it makes a lot of sense but who knows. I would have suspected the loader was doing something like deleting the /apps/gc_devo/ directory and recreating it from scratch each time instead of just making sure it already exists.

I actaully wondered if something like this was happening when I was exploring the issue - but one of the first things I checked was time/date stamps on the files and they weren't changing. And since at the time I asked in the loaders thread, no one else was having the issue, and Devo itself was working like a champ, it pointed to something else system based.
Thats the fun of the Wii... there's so much that's been done to it, and in so many different ways, that each one is now a snowflake (no 2 alike) and who knows whats lurking in the older hacked ones like mine :)

Bottom line though - I am loving it!
Still need to play with the MC dumping later when I get time

Tueidj, on the Legend of Zelda Collector's Disc, Legend of Zelda and Link's Adventure are running audio only on r101. I thought I remember the first build of the Devolution loader supporting both of them, but I don't have a copy to test anymore.

I updated to d2x v9 as you did, and this solved the authentication problem I was having. However, the first party memory card is still unusable.

Nice! And yeah, the 1st party ones are a separate issue. Still haven't tried dumping them with the trick earlier - but I know as long as you view the card in the Wii's memory manager 1st they'll work fine in Devo. (if you can't view them in the Wii manager because they were already wrongly loaded, just power the Wii off and back on. I have to unplug mine - but then they come right back and work just fine.)
Glad to hear the d2x upgrade worked for you though!

There's a temporary workaround for now: Go to the system menu, options, then unplug and replug your memory card(wait about 1 second before reinserting it), then view it under the GC saves management page. It should work in Devolution after that, until you reboot the Wii.

the first party memory card will continue to be unusable until he figures that one out. It's a bug in DEvolution. Try opening the card up in data management in the system menu each time before going in and running devolution. That's the workaround for now.

EDIT : everyone beat me to it looks like

The other game I was trying it with was PSO 1&2. I guess SEGA had an infinite loop for retries until success.

Almost positive this is the case with PSO games; my copy of PSO III wont go past the memory card error screen if such an error occurs, probably because of the online nature of it.

Well It sounds like you guys all heard to load config and disable region override. I however am curious on if you guys have been able to rip your NGC games with the dvddump app and if they are 1:1 copies that work with Devolution?? I remember having an issue with that app reading my mem card and left it alone, I was thinking it was related to the time when Nintendo updated the Wii to support bigger SD's, did anyone run this app after?

It must be patching something other than the game ID, if that were the case Devolution would spit the disc out at the two-flashes stage.
