Gaming Devil Survivor .sav error

I have a backup of my .sav file for Shin megami tensei, but I didn't have the .nds file. Yesterday I decided I'd play the game again, but when I renamed my old .sav file to this new .nds file, it doesn't work anymore. The only option I have in the game is "New Game".
Any suggestions? I've tried other roms, 4 to be exact, with no results.
I just thought it might be because I saved the .sav last time in an EDGE v1.8, and now it's operating in v2.0 . Could that be it?

did you test your save on an emulator? Try renaming your save to "yoursavename.nds.sav" without quotes. You could also try a different region ROM.

How can I load my .sav, if the emulator only accepts .dts or something like that?
When I "import backup memory" nothing happens. Does that mean the .sav is corrupted?

convert your save here.

Maybe the problem is your ROM. The saves might not be interchangeable between regions.
