    This is probably a question that has been asked countless times before, but here we go.

    I am having to have an operation in a few months (unless things change drastically) which will leave me unable to work for 3 to 4 months or so, so the laptop/DS/WII (certain games only) are going to be invaluable friends along with the countless books I will no doubt read.

    I was thinking, why not try and create a game, for the DS or possibly even the WII (who knows)

    But.... where to start?

    Does anyone have any advice on where to start, what should I be looking up i.e. coding etc. Even if I don't succeed,it will pass the time on.

    Appreciate any help.

    C++ is a good place to start
    but dont plan on jumping right into creating games
    you have have to learn all ins and outs first

    If you want to focus on games design, rather than building with code, maybe you can look into a design package like Multimedia Fusion 2?

    The guy who did the Contra 4 graphics made this game using Multimedia Fusion, it's good stuff.
