ROM Hack Death Note games translation project (need help)

there are lots. a few cursory searches for ds hacking tolls will probably get you everything you need. some of the stuff on rhdn works with ds stuff also, btw.

Have you tried learning proper English grammar? Have you taken the time to learn Japanese, as well?

This is not the place to be using Babelfish as your translator.

You can always go to the romhacking document that's stickied.

romhacking.net is what helps many people become romhackers. If you don't see it as helpful, then you probably most likely won't learn.
No one can teach you with a video because every game is different.

What they aren't saying is that if you had read the docs you wouldn't still be bugging them, and even then have you used the search button yet, to look for tools yourself...

Most of this is trial and error.
Open something up change it see what happens and try again.

Do you know what hex editing is yet?
Do you know how to dump images and insert them?
do you know how to dump text and insert it back?
these are all things in the docs, that you will need to know how to do.

Do you know any programming? (may not be nessecary as you might only need programming to make your own tools and to automate things to make it way easier to do)

Sorry if this sounds harsh but I went through the same thing (I just didn't ask anyone anything unless I really had to).

This is exactly what I'm thinking.
There is no way you could have learned romhacking that dast, at all.
So I'm not quite sure what you lost if you don't even know where to start.
I'm assuming you don't know where to start because you're asking for other programs to open a rom.

My girlfriend loves Death Note. And I love her. So I figured I'd try hacking one of the games sometime.
So I figured I'd try my hand at hacking the games, but the text is a little intense for me. I mean, I'm learning Japanese, can understand both written kana, but kanji and the language itself is a whole nother story (unless all they asked in the game was "Hello", "how are you?" and "how's the weather today?", yeah this will be friggin tough)

I looked through the filetypes of this game long ago. And for me, doing the hacking for this game is pretty easy; image hacking shouldn't be hard either. In fact, it's all images, I'm pretty confident I could do it.


If I recall there were two actual scanlation groups that stated that they wanted to work on this game. If I could get in touch with said groups, or if you guys know said groups, I'd be more than glad to start a project with them (you could help out too, smash_legend, but you've gotta actually do something to get credited, remember that)


EDIT: Actually, if we could get Noitora up in here AND the scanlators, psh forget about it we'd blow through this game
