Hacking Dead R4?

I have an R4 that I have been using with my 3DS. I had no issues what so ever and have been using it for a week. Today I put my 3DS down, had a cig, came back to it frozen and now it freezes constantly and within seconds.

Yes I formatted the SD card with SD Formatter. No it didnt change anything. Yes the card is legit.

So WTF is going on here? Did I just get screwed out of a brand new card?
