If you have preloader. Hold the "reset" button when you start your Wii, and Preloader will start. From there, go to homebrew channel, and install 3.2 using either a wad or some application. You'll have to google those.

And yes, you did brick it.

Oh yeah, this error ... It made my Wii inoperable for many months as it was before homebrew existed.

During this time I had found a bypass that allowed me to go into the main menu : I had to press reset once while the Wii was booting to avoid this error.

You should try, but I think your brick is more important than was mine as I had the Health Screen.

what you mean by " I installed this file" ?
this does not make any sense, which method did you use (Waninkoko 4.0 updater or the one with official update) ?

maybe you are bricked because you brutally interrupted the update process before it was finished ? Did you have any error message or stuck application ?

also, if you tried to install starfall or preloader 0.28 AFTER updating to 4.0, it's all your fault, NOBODY told you to do that

if you installed preloader or starfall BEFORE, then you have nothing to worry about, they get erased by the System Menu update

many people (including myself) used this method for updating without any problem so you must have done something wrong

You should go into the Homebrew Channel and launch the Preloader 0.29 installer and install Preloader again. That will make the System Files Corrupted message disappear.

So now i just install system289.wad and install everything all over again ( i.e. CIOSCORP,
cIOS (something) rev 9 ) and then and all will be good?

oh yeah for some reason the Wii can't read brawl but if you eject the disk and put it back in it'll ask to update so that i can play it which is weird as its an original disk hmm maybe it'll be fixed once i downgrade to 3.2

As i don't want to make an mistake again

ok then you should be fine, i just wanted to make sure, because the official Nintendo update 4.0 stubed the IOS30 meaning the 3.2 system menu wont run off of it

sense you used wank's updater you should be fine,

either way if you use the wad method, i would recommend installing the ios 30 first then the system menu wad, just to be safe.

Have you tried just re-installing preloader?? that should work also

What's the fastest and safest way to downgrade a partially upgraded 4.0 back to 3.2? Will this work?

1) IOS30
2) system-menu-update-JAP-v288 (Mine's a JPN wii)

or :

1) Using arc1.1m5 / cIOS downgrader

I prefer the IOS30+systemmenu method. But I am not too sure if it will show 3.2J or still 4.0? After this is it possible to just use any region changer 1.1m5 to downgrade? Or must I do it without installing ios30+systemmenu?
