Thank you, I hope it gives a little more overview about what's happening in mod-chip-world this month.

Infectus Argon and Wiiktus D2C Modchip Pre-Orders and Beta Programmer
Team Enigma, the makers of the universal Infectus modchip have released details on the upcoming Argon modchip for Wii as well as the newly announced Infectus2 universal modchip and the now titled “Wiiktus” firmware, a version of the Argon’s firmware that will run on Infectus1 and 2 chips to deliver D2C compatibility.

Pre-Orders are currently being offered exclusively through Hardstore.com with the Argon slated for a December 13th release at €39.90 ($58.38) and the Infectus2 slated for release December 20th at €44.90 ($65.70).

First production of Argon chips will be limited to around 4000 units due to the limited quantity of Acetel chips available. The second production run is slated for December 20th meaning that they will likely not be available until after the holidays. Pictures of final production version along with installation instructions and more details on compatibility will be available soon (likely December 5th).

Official Argon Specs are as follows:
Work on all D2C WII boards*
13 wires connection
100% UPDATABLE! Trought the on board JTAG connector*
ACTEL processor
Direct Boot from Wii games (extreme compatibility, more than Wiikey/D2Ckey)
Dirct boot for every GC game
Multiple disc support
Audio streaming for GC Games supported
Partial regional Patch (work on 80% of games)
*All ARGON arrive with a flat cable for external reprogramming with INFECTUS2 or a special and cheaper INFECTUS USB ACTEL programmer

The Infectus2 modchip will be completely replacing the original Infectus. The new version includes a daughter board attached to a ribbon cable to allow easier reprogramming in-situ. The daughter board offer a mini USB connector, two bank switches and three status LEDs.

If you are interested in playing with the Infectus programming software early a Beta version of the Infectus 3.6 Programmer for Wiiktus and other firmware has been released.

Did someone pre-order it for 13 december allready here?

I want to buy the 2nd load (coming 5th january) but I want to hear some reactions first

I second that, I'd like to order the InFeCtuS 2 as well. Maybe we can arrange something as well, since the three of us are Dutch

Where can i preorder it for 13 december?

Hardstore.com

13 december: 1st load Argon chips (about 4000) available ONLY on Hardstore.com (link > click english flag)
20 december: 1st load Infectus2 chips availible on Hardstore.com as well
05 january: 2nd load Argon chips available on Hardstore.com (and propably also multiple shops around Europe like the Dutch consolepro.nl)

I second that, I'd like to order the InFeCtuS 2 as well. Maybe we can arrange something as well, since the three of us are Dutch

Good idea, however I personally want to wait for some reactions and review of the Argon/Infectus2 chips to make sure he plays all the games, and it remains undetected etc. So when this works out fine I am planning to order an Argon from the 2nd load, hopefully from the Dutch webshops and otherwise from Hardstore.

It look like there still isn't a "perfect" D2C chip... Argon is a lot less wires, but the updating method is far from ideal... well, I still might pick this one up if no other chip is released... :S

@gaboumafou

The updating of D2C chips is not ideal, but it does is more 'secure' than updating systems like Wiikey. The modchips for D2B systems can be updated by DVD, but this makes them vulnerable because they use the RAM memory which can easiliy be detected by Nintendo. The D2C chips need external wires for updating, but have less interference with the Nintendo hardware which makes is more difficult to detect.

Plus if you get the InFeCtuS 2 you can make use of the USB plug dongle thing you could place just outside of your Wii or maybe a more elegant solution is possible.

This is the schematic for soldering your Argon into the Wii, copied from the Infectus site:

Nice

. Strange that the points are different to the points the normal infectus uses for d2c , would of though they would be the same.

11 on the ic + the two for power and ground

, think I'll pick one up after christmas for my wii , assuming it works good.

An alternative solder guide form the infectus Forum:

"For those of you who don't want to solder to the IC Legs I have made an Alternate Install guide. You have 2 extra sets of points and can make your own combination now"

Serieus? That's nice news, where did you find that info?

On the Infectus forum I read some problems with the Infectus with D2C firmware, I hope the Argon works without problems.

Serieus? That's nice news, where did you find that info?

From the team, as in, I asked them via email, and they answered.

Here is a bit of the email

QUOTED2CKey is technically upgradeable with the use of a USB programmer, but
there would need to be some specific software written for it. I think
everyone is aware that it would be a great selling point to have, but
there's debate about whether it is really necessary.

Damn that's interesting... that would mean that they consider the D2Ckey is undetectable for Nintendo (as mentioned in this other topic.) Thanks for the info, I also updated the startpost in the topic here!
