Hacking D: what happened to teh cheats

so i updated my cheat database and the readme said it had cheats for gta chinatown wars..


so i updated it and all... and after i rebuild it says no cheat file was found...?

are you using a patched version of GTA? if so then the Game ID is different then the one in the Cheat DB

perhaps i should download it again

edit: thanks syko, i downloaded it again and it worked this time..


but how can i get the sav file from my other game to work on the new copy?

search for PC app called r4cce (you'll find it on GBAtemp), with that program you 'open' your rom to see what game ID it has. Compare that ID to the one held within the cheat file. If different, change ID held in cheat file to match your rom, save the file & voila.

edit: rename new rom to match that of previous save file.

so i have a question with r4cce..

where do i save the file to after i've changed the code?

just save over the existing cheat file then put it back on your microsd

but if i save over my old cheat file then won't my new one just have the one game and thats it?

ok do this open r4cce and load your cheat file the one that has all the cheats then scroll down to your GTA game and click it then next to game id click the ... button and locate your rom on your pc and click it and if the ID is the same then the numbers wont change and if they do change then it will show a different ID then just click Save and it will save the cheat file with GTA having a new ID

ah. thank you. it makes sense now... the game i'm fixing ain't gta btw, its phantasy star 0, because i had the same problem and i wanted to try the r4cce method.

Edit: oh... i saved it and i checked my games folder and theres a dat file there... a 1kb one..

wait nvm, its probably my rubbish attempt at the fixing the cheats before.
