Hacking Custom System Menu Help

Ive extracted the 00000042.app, and in /layout/common/... there are things like health.ash, balloon.ash, calendar.ash, and cusor.ash. i can extract the .ash files and get a .arc file, then i extract that. I get a bunch of tpls that ill change to my liking, then pack up the arc. But the .arc was oringinally an .ash file so does anyone know how to compress the .arc to .ash?

Also does anyone know where things are located in the 00000042.app like the disc channel color, message board color and etc.
