I want to say thank you for all your work, this is one of the best games ever ( I started with ps2 version) and I plan on updating every time the patch gets updated and I commend everyone working on this.
 
to explain a little more.

in injected's screenshot, the text that becomes garbled is not the status text or the "% rounds" duration part. it's actually on the top screen, 3rd row (last row of the first window).

it says:

「ホーリーワードX」の効果

which means:

Effect of 「Holy Word X」

i am guessing it's under menu, offset 1090028

not sure if the freeze is because there's a character limit when displaying that string calling for the card name... hope this helps. =)
 
need some help brainstorming:

Under Menus, offset 1106624 (under Entries 970-979), i think this is the bottom screen of the Cepter Info when a spell is in effect. Same as what we are talking about during the freeze. There are 2 Japanese characters in there that translates to "Duration" (bottom half of that window).

However, the word "Duration" exceeds the character limit. Any other ideas?
 
please, try latest patch, it does not freeze for me

"Lasts" came to mind and is shorter, but if it is replacing 2 Japanese characters, I think it still exceeds the character limit by 1. "Dur." should fit, but might seem unclear as to what it means. I'll keep thinking, but such a small space limits our options.

I think that would work well. It appears below the description of the effect, so it should be clear enough that they are inter-related.

"Dice" is actually the plural form of "Die". The only time we should use the term "Dice" is when using the spell Fly, which lets you roll 2 of them. I'll start working through those now.
 
i mean..... that thing doesn't even look like a die or dice. it's just a number spinning.

i hope there's not too many spots for me to change on the manual...................... =\
 
I just want to say that this is some amazing work. I've been wanting to play this game for a LONG time and now I finally can. I've been playing nonstop for 2 days and am on level 8 or 9 now.

My only question though is about the random 'miracles' that occur when you land on a shrine. As someone who never played the PS2 version of this game I don't know what the miracles are do, and even after they occur I cant always tell what happened. Don't get me wrong, its still playable even without knowing and I dont want to sound ungrateful, but I was wondering why this part had been skipped over so far when nearly everything else is complete.
 
theli: any new progress or thoughts regarding the shrine effect translation?

Also, think you can find the tile that displays under Maintenance > Record? the bottom screen part.

Has anyone been able to get taunt text to display when running the game on No$gba? I was planning on starting to double-check taunts (proper situations, comments directed at correct Cepter, matching mood to character's expression, possible typos, etc) and using the emulator to run at higher speeds would greatly help. Currently, the text boxes remain blank where taunt text should appear (ONLY in emulator. Taunts work fine on a DS). Any ideas, or is slow and painful the only option?

i think taunts/script/talks work in desmume
 
Thanks for adding Shrine Effects to the wiki, Theli! A 100% translation can't be all that far off now!

Guess I'll start taking screenies of Shrine Effect text and making notes of what happens in game for comparison with what our translators come up with.
 
So has the text for the shrines been found in the game or is the text for them on the translation wiki just transcribed from game screenshots?

text location was known for ~7 months, i just found time and motivation to extract it
 
Ah, I am very familiar with lack of time and motivation. That same problem strikes many of my projects as well. Glad to see you're following it through.
