Hey, I was thinking of buying the Wlip when it comes out and wanted to know if i could get "Openwii" on it without soldering anything, and if I could, would it be upgradeable via dvd?

Primary openwii development has switched to atmega chip, which won't fit into the wlip's socket. You'll have to solder to connect such a chip.
But Winja deluxe for example will fit without any soldering
