I am looking for a program to convert Audible's proprietary ".aax" format to something that a generic player can play. Does anyone have a good recommendation for a converter?

I have used AAX Audio Converter: https://github.com/audiamus/AaxAudioConverter

On Mac, there is OpenAudible. My problem was in transferring books to an old iPod nano - the books would play, but had no chapter marks, so finding my place later was hard. I’ve been converting to the older Audible m4b format (essentially AAC with chapters), but IIRC both programs can also save to mp3.
