So I wanted to restore my NAND backup, but I think I've soft-locked the console. I made a backup ages ago - I think I've either misplaced them or they weren't taken (Whats weird is I made the backup using hekate - then used dd to create a disk image - so I can't have lost the files - they were probably never taken)

now when I boot the console it just goes has a black screen or any CFW boot option (reiNX and atmosphere) or if I try to boot into Normal mode, nothing happens. The files I have from my backup are

BOOT0
BOOT1

BCPKG2-1-Normal-Main
BCPKG2-2-Normal-Sub
BCPKG2-3-SafeMode-Main
BCPKG2-4-SafeMode-Sub
BCPKG2-5-Repair-Main
BCPKG2-6-Repair-Sub

I'm missing (these are the files that are shown to be missing when doing the restore.)

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully I don't need to buy another switch.

EDIT 2:

Only Weird thing now is that it wont boot into Horizon cold. I can via hekate but not from cold, It doesn't go into RCM simply won't boot.

Yeah I thought the PRODINFO PRODINFOF - they sound important - I'll scan though my backups and see if I can find those files. If I can I should be able to complete the backup ?

EDIT1:

I FUCKEN FOUND EM - timemachine to the fucking rescue - lets hope they aren't corrupted - will keep you guys posted

If you updated the system in OFW or an old version of SX OS your fuses will be burnt. As such, your console won't boot when a backup is restored with a lower system firmware version.
Hekate simply doesn't care about fuse checks.
What you need to do to fix this is simply updating your Switch to the same system firmware it was on before you restored your backup.
Use ChoiDujourNX.

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
