Hi oggzee, thanks for the alpha.
What is the prevision for the future of hermes v4 support?

Thanks!
Unless Hermes starts development again, it's pretty safe to say we'll keep the v4 support in. There are benefits to using v4 over v5 (compatibility with older apps and so on), while there are virtually no benefits for the earlier Hermes revisions.

Thanks Dr. Clipper.
I ask because for me v4 works very nice and stable and I was worried about it when I read that previous versions would no longer be supported. So until the CFG have support to v4, I will keep them, because I have no interest in upgrading to v5 for now:)
Thanks.

Hi Oggzee,

thanks to you, Daileon and Dr. Clipper for the recent fast betas and releases!

re: the USB HUB HDD I've got not being detected, from the source it looks like the USB device is queried how much storage it has and there's no error checking if it doesn't reply (it just times out) - that might be the cause of the incompatibility with some USB HDDs (the USB to IDE / SATA isn't always the first USB device when queried, especially if the USB adapter has a hub or eSATA etc.).

I wonder if the same timeout would occur with a USB HDD connected to a hub? I would expect it to 'fail' with multiple USB HDDs connected to a hub though.

I'll see if I get some time this weekend to download and install a compiler to do some testing, but I'm theorising the USB init just needs to check for another USB device if it fails the initial query (as it's making an assumption that there is only 1 USB device connected and it's a storage device).

Daileon, tu é muito foda!! Finalmente vemos um brasileiro fazendo a diferença na scene do Wii. A wiinnertag é bem melhor do que esse tal de Ncard aí... Cara, sou seu fã

And works like a charm with CFG

No delay on update the .jpg and no delay on load the games.

E funciona muito bem. Pelo menos com o CFG não tem delay e não atrasa em nada o carregamento dos jogos. O bom é que tem uma galera usando e divulgando. A moda vai pegar certo!

help how can I make the path for alt-dols be sd:/alt-dols and not under usb loader? I don't want seperate alt-dols for the two usb loaders I use I want a single path with all my alt dols but I can not find anything to change paths for alt-dols in configurable usb loader.

if you use the "alt dol DISC ask" you don't need the .dol in SD. The CFG looks for the alternative dol on disc (.ISO or .WBFS) and you choose the .dol alternative.

Well I need to load the alt dol on this one seperate because it's the language translation patch in progress for Tales of Grace.

Sorry, you can't change the directory. It has to be in the base directory of the loader. I don't think this situation is common enough to allow that to be configured yet.

That really makes things messy than.. all these alt dols in the root folder of the loader.. like how Loader GX allows setting the path.. their is some other games that have translation patches that load the same way. Starting to see more translations out there..

I think that in GX you can change the path, so you can invert your way of load alt dols: Put all in /usb-loader and change this in GX. When I used GX (Dont use anymore) I set the cover paths in GX to look on CFG folders, for example...

cIOS 222/223 with mload by Hermes:
v4 and v5 cIOS 222 is supported, however 223/224 v5 might not work the best with cfg for now.
is this still true ? it means when using Hermes v5.1 I should stick to mload-222, but what IOS to use for it for best compatibility ? 37 or 38 ? don't need wi-fi or music instruments, just compatibility for USB loading

thanks

We really don't know at the moment. We just added what is meant to be full 5.x support in the latest alpha (59a) and nobody has told us whether it is working properly or not. Check the last page or two of posts for the links to 59a. Best compatibility with games would be base 37 because of the music and Wii Speak games, but base 57 (which I think v5 had but can't remember right now) would probably give faster loading times.

I haven't really been using Hermes cIOS any longer, but I reinstalled v5.1 just to test.

Previously with v5/5.1 using 223 base 37, if I let games like GH5 or Rock Band sit through the wrist strap screen, the games would not continue to load when that was finished - just sit at a black screen and would have to power down the Wii.

Now with 59a and v5.1 223 base 37, they continue into the game fine, no more black screen, so looks like it's working properly (thought I didn't really test further than this).

Also, is 59a not supposed to be showing up in the list when checking for updates? Had to download and manually update.

Thanks for the feedback!
And OOPS, I forgot to enable 59a in online updates, it should work now.

@oogezz how do i fix the ability for the usbconfigure to download coverart for my games?

also ill get my entire config.txt soon and show you what i have

# USBLoader config
# lines starting with # are comments
# see README-CFG.txt for help on options

# rename this file from sample_config.txt to config.txt if you want to use it.
# all setting in this file (sd:/apps/USBLoader/config.txt)
# will override the global config (sd:/usb-loader/config.txt)

# background = background.png
# wbackground = background_wide.png
# layout = large3
# covers = 1
# hide_footer = 1
# device = usb

* i want to change the layout of configusb
* get cover arts to work
* how to install this as a channel

I've always played the music games with Hermes cIOS v5.1 (IOS222) since it was released and I've never stumbled upon on any problems yet.
Could you please explain a bit more in detail what's been changed regarding the Hermes compatibility in 59a.
