I am seriously thinking of buying original games because I have come across games that you can download some of these files are much shorter than the originals (comparing ISO with ISO) It makes me wonder what has been left out or am I just being paranoid

They might be CSO files not ISO, compressed ISOs.
I don't know if its still true but some games didn't work as well being compressed.

Yes, your being paranoid.

These are probably compressed games. They have just had all the update stuff removed.

So, don't worry, your all good.

Although some do have sound and movies removed.

Now there's a quote worth bottling!! You say it like it's a bad thing.

A lot of time people remove the firmware update folder/files because it's not needed. There's also sometimes extra padding added into the original to make loading from the UMD smoother for technical reasons (or am I thinking of the DC?), that's removed as it plays no part in reading from an MS.

there are some cheap bastards with small memory sticks that rip or downscale the movies & music,
i wouldnt mind if they didnt spread them afterwards!

they even have a site for sad bastards called rip-kit.com or something like that!

There aren't many PSP games that interest me anyway, but generally, if I do find one interesting I buy it. Just because I want the case. =)

But if it's some random game you're thinking about trying or don't find worth the money, then yeah, just pirate it or something.

DOH! You fools are asking for a Mod just to shut down this topic. Piracy is a HUGE no no on GBA temp.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. Piracy? In my GBAtemp?!

Well I did some more research and found that it doesn't matter which site you get them from, there is a very good chance the game you downloaded would have been chopped, how much who knows?
I would recommend buying an original, there is nothing worse than getting half way through the game then it goes belly up, I saw the same game one was 500M and the other 1.5GB just to give you an example

Research? Such as what?

If you're rubbish at finding sources (or have rubbish sources) you'll get games with ripped out content. Most people have no problem at all.

@the first part: just download a different copy from a more reliable site.
@the second part: same as the first

My personal rips are the same size as the ones I download. They probably remove the update and the padding which can take several hundred megabytes in certain games.
