Wii 64 Rice 1.5.6 seems to be a clear improvement. Here are some games I’ve tried:
- Jet Force Gemini now works fine. I’ve been playing it for a while and haven’t had any problems—I’ve been looking forward to this game. I hope it doesn’t cause any issues as I progress further.
- StarCraft 64: It’s been a while since I tried it, and it plays pretty well in this latest version.
- Bangai-O: I find it more playable and with fewer glitches than before. Edit: When you beat a level and start the next one, glitches always end up popping up that prevent you from playing it. It’s as if the memory gradually gets overloaded and can only handle one level per playthrough. But if you restart the game, you’ll be able to play the next level just fine. The game automatically saves the levels you’ve completed, so it’s not a major problem if you like the game.
- Kirby 64: The HUD is working properly now.
- Yoshi’s Story: It still has errors with certain sprites, but it’s clear it’s getting closer and closer to being playable without graphical glitches. Maybe someday.
- Goemon’s Great Adventure: It doesn’t work after selecting a character.
- Space Station Silicon Valley: It still has significant graphical glitches here and there.
- Star Wars Teikoku no Kage (Japanese version of *Shadows of the Empire* with English patch): It gets stuck during the opening sequences.
- Killer Instinct Gold (rev 2): Glitches during character selection, but better during fights; however, it gives me a code dump after losing or winning the first fight.
Beetle Adventure Racing has no graphical glitches in the sky or trees, and it’s not necessary to use the RiceVideoLinux.ini file from version 1.4.2.
The issue where the screen goes black when exiting the emulator and doesn’t return to the homebrew menu if a game hasn’t been loaded beforehand still persists (it’s not a big deal, since you always start the emulator specifically to play a game).
