Wrong id??? Tell what was your mistake
I had the default_title_ID set to haxchi and working properly, but my haxchi channel was set to go to the homebrew channel instead of loading fw.img. I tried modifying my haxchi channel, but I forgot to set the default_title_ID back to normal before I started screwing with the haxchi channel. Totally my fault ;)

@KhaderWelayeTake it easy man! Good luck finding a new console :) Good thing this happened before Nintendo releases a new firmware.
Thanks! Ended up buying a Wii U on eBay with a broken disk drive for $50, so that's my backup if I can't restore my NAND backup. I'll just end up swapping in the working disk drive from my currently bricked console.

Nice! I guess rednand has some uses after all, for backing up the nand I mean. Maybe they should release a tool that merely allows you to backup sysnand without going all the way into installing rednand on the SD card.

You could recover from the Brick... Just run cfw booter from the hbl. Then you will get to hbl again and from there you can use wupclient or ftpiiu_everywhere

We'll see, my solder is too big to solder the needed points so a friend with way better soldering skills is going to give me a hand in getting this hardmod wired up. Not to mention the redNAND dumps the NAND as three different files, so that may be problematic when restoring unless I can figure out how to properly concatenate them.

It WAS booting to the homebrew channel previously, which was my intention as I was testing something. Afterwards I started screwing with the haxchi channel which led to me booting to a black screen.

I make some modifiy on patch session. to make it boot without SD card. coldboot 1st is ok but 2nd is still need SD card. any ideal ?
I think is something about here but not working.
fw_img_path:
.ascii "/vol/sdcard"
.byte 0x00
.align 0x4

Would be great if that double loading of the fw.img could be fixed, think I would pull the trigger on setting this up then, in the mean time I will watch the progress closely, there's a lot of very clever people spending a lot of time on the wii u at the moment so hopefully soon

You mean like NOT doing rednand and just follow the guide to build rednand until you have the backup? Nothing that says once you have the backup you have to continue?!
Or using crediar's tool to backup the nand?
Or using dimok's tool to backup the nand?

My bad... didn't know that cediar's or dimok's backup tools were out there...

No worries. Not bitching at you, just letting you know :) I did the rednand backup and crediar's. Just github search these dudes and you can find the tools :)

It may be a stupid question, maybe it's implied in the OP post and I didn't get it... but is this tutorial doable for someone who's never installed rednand or modified the console at all?

Not exactly. I would recommend that you'd try first to install the usual cfw and haxchi, and see if you feel comfortable about it. Once you get it all up and running, then maybe you can start considering coldboothax. At the moment rednand is only useful for developers, not end users, since there's now a more user friendly cfw that does everything rednand can do as far as normal gaming usage is concerned.
