ROM Hack Chrono Trigger DS

Ok so I have used the patch (and I know that it works just fine). Tho my question is, now that I have patched it, will I be able to trim the rom (from 128mb down to 86.1mb) I had a trimmed version before but the patch would not work on a pre-trimmed rom.

and if I do trim it, am I going to lose my save data or anything? (I am far enough into the game that it would not be worth it to save like 40mb in exchange to have to start the game all the way over).

Trimming a ROM shouldn't touch the save data. At worst, the ROM just won't boot. It won't touch the .sav file that is generated by your card/patcher.
(Just make sure that you keep your savegame!)

Ok thanks, that is what I thought. Tho last night I trimmed all my other roms down (saved like 700mb) but most of my save data was gone (All my Castlevania saves were gone, same with LoZH, Metroid Prime Hunters, and Mario Kart DS)

look for crono trigger patch at gbatemp download sections at portal.







ps.: i never touched the .sav's so, i dunno why you lost the save games when trim just get the nds files o.O

I got the patch from here. It is in the download section, just have to look for it (sorry can't remember the link off the top of my head).



I am not to worried about the saves tho, now I just have an excuse to start my favorite games all over, lol.



well I am off to play some more Chrono Trigger tho (game is addicting, haha).

The game is already in perfect English, as well as Japanese. Moreover, the (U) version comes out on the 25th. You can wait 4 days if you want to play an English-exclusive version. Besides... It clearly says "Removes anti-piracy restrictions". Why do you assume that it is a translation patch? Seriously, I don't get you people.

The Japanese Version has the option to set to Japanese or English text.



The patch will remove the anti-piracy protection that SE put into the game (if you don't use the patch then the game will lock up when you go into the first time warp). Using the patch you can get past the time warps without any issues.

Do you do hacking? What kind of it?

Well I use to be big into doing random computer hacks (tho as I got older I realized that doing so was a real dick move so I stopped with that). Now I just pretty much hack peoples cell phones if they want it done (just random BS like unlocking phones, removing built in apps they don't want).

Now I am working on programming via DevkitPro (random apps for DS, PSP, GBA, Wii). I am still working on getting use to DevkitPro but so far it has been ALOT of fun (I have only been using it for about 2 months or so). I have also been working on doing some video game development using Maya 6.5 Unlimited (I have been using maya for like 28 months now) and 3D Game Studios.

How do you apply the CTDS patch to the original ROM?

Ok you will need to download the patch in my sig.

After you extract it put you're (legally obtained) Chrono Trigger rom into the extracted folder.
Now rename the Chrono Trigger rom "original" (without the " ").

Now there should be 4 files in the "Chrono Trigger Patch" folder The 4 files are:

cpfix.patch
Run_This_To_Patch_CT"
xdelta
Original (You're Renamed Chrono Trigger Rom)


After you make sure that these 4 files are in the folder, simply double click on "Run_This_To_Patch_CT"
it will run and after a few minutes you will have a new Nintendo DS rom in the folder called "Original_Patched".
now just rename the new patched rom back to "Chrono Trigger" and put it on your flashcart.

I got this, ran it, and put the modified NDS onto my DSTT.

I went to boot the game, got two white screens, and now my memory card has been nuked.

(I'm able to reformat the card... shoulda backed up my SAVs before doing this. Stupid me. )
