I just got an R4 a week a so ago and I'm lovin' it. It's my first flash cart and I'm pretty new to all of this. I've had some time to explore some of the homebrew that's out there and decided that I'd rather have something besides moonshell for the media player (maybe DSOrganize or Lick/Lucas's iPod player). I couldn't find any features in the firmware that allowed me to do it legitamately but then I noticed the '_MSHL.NDS' file. I took Lick/Lucas's media player (after DLDI patching) and changed the name to '_MSHL.NDS' and replaced the file that was on the card. And voila! the media button on the start up screen now launches the iPod player. Sweet! No more moonshell (nothing against moonshell). I assume it would work with DSOrganize as well but I haven't tried it yet.

Maybe this was already common knowledge but I didn't see any forum posts so I thought I'd throw it out there. Enjoy!

oops. The file name is '_DS_MSHL.NDS'. Always make backups of your files before listening to some noob on a forum

Is there a similar use for the right button? I don't have a slot-2 card at the moment so maybe I could use it for something else. None of the other system files appeared to be linked to it though.

Nah, as of right now, only the middle button can do this.

Lucas made no mention of video support in any of his posts announcing the alpha version. Maybe Lick's original version supported video but got lost in Lucas' conversion process. Video support would be quite awesome though!

@Katalyst: thanks for the heads up!
and boy what a great piece of soft ComicBookDS is! must be the best homebrew yet (usage of both screens, feature-set and so on) as far as i can tell in the short period of time that i own a flashcart now...
