Hacking chipped wii soft mod question

m8s wii has either a d2pro chip or d2lite(spoke to guy who installed in 2008) i was gonna softmod his as i done my own using guide here to play new super mario bros through usb but he says will brick wii.think hes talking bull(said ninty were targeting softmods with updates) but obviously if all updates are using hacked firmware they can't do this if official updates are blocked.just wanna confirm its ok before i do it.sorry if this is a noob question but just gotta be sure

just use the simplistc softmod guide and update away, everything is still doable on 4.2 =]wiether u have a chip or not =]

i take it using the simplistic method official updates are blocked ok or should i use starfall(or something similar) to make sure

If you install Priiloader/StartPatch at the end, you can block disc updates
