Just before christmas I told my mum she could have one of my nintendo Wiis. I'd do wrong things to it so she could have dodge games. My Aunty agreed to pay half to the external hard drive that would be needed to give my mum a load of dodgy games.
Turned out the external hard drive me and my aunty bought was no good.
Didn't KNOW it has to be one that plugs in. Gave my aunty her half back, now I'm stuck with a 1TB external hard drive I've got not use for.
In other news, told my mum what had happened and she gave me £40 towards the next cheapest external hard drive.
Had completely forgotten how to sort the wii out and format the hard drive to save wii games on it.
My Aunty (who went halfers on the hard drive before christmas) died a couple of months ago. It's her birthday today. Can't remember how I did dodgy things to my wii and external hard drive last time, shoulda taken notes.
Been at it for hours, THINK I've sorted the wii out. can't remember what I used to format the hard-drive / what format it was.
If anyone could remind me, I'd be very grateful!

Not sure if a joke post, but I'll bite anyway. Format in fat32 and install your .wbfs files in a folder called wbfs. Pretty simple.

Yeah, tried it both ways. First time I did it, I formatted part of my hard drive in a way I can't remember and everything worked fine, the wii games on whatever format partition worked fine (god bless windows, if it doesn't recognise something, it suggests formatting it every time you switch your computer on. One day I switched my computer on and went to the toilet, when I came back, my nephew had clicked "OK" and formatted it) Next time I tried it I did the "everything on fat32" thing but the wii games wouldn't work. Never claimed to be an expert LOL

Wii backup manager is what I did the second time. Whatever I did the first time was better. I just can't remember what it was. I installed something and used it to partition part of my hard drive in a special way for the wii games.

I think you had the HDD on WBFS if Windows didn't recognized it. So format it on WBFS with Wii Backup Manager and transfer the games with the same app.

Excuse me for being a bit thick, I thought you meant the thing I tried to use on Fat32
Don't spose you've got a link have you? Doesn't matter if you haven't. If it's what I used, I'll find it if I google enough. Thank You x

I used something called Wii Backup Manager and it didn't offer changing partition format, it let me change the format of the dodgy games I'd downloaded. Don't know if it's the same thing

I've NEVER liked games consoles. Every 5yrs or so I have a bit of a midlife crisis and buy a second hand console and a shedload of games. First time was the xbox and about 30 games I bought. was bored within about 2 days. Gathered dust for ages then I gave it to someone.
MAIN reason I bought 2 wii's was cos they had a netflix channel. Could watch netflix in mi bedroom and the living room. THEN I did some googling and found out that if I did some mucking about with it it could play my favourite console game of all time. "Unirally" on the NES.
My mum has had EVERY console going. When I got my first job, with my first paycheck, I took her to Toys'R'Us to buy her a Playstation (the first one) ... Sales dude said "you're such a lucky little boy, you're mummy buying you this" to which I replied "I'm a grown woman and I'M buying it for HER you patronising twat!" LOL

Funny story. When I told my mum that if I fannied about with the wii she could have, she could have any game she wanted. She didn't want any new games, she asked me to get "Legend of Kage" from the NES (got that) and "Everquest" ... not managed to get hold of that yet, if anyone knows where I can get it, let me know. Think it's either NES or SNES

Tried to format part of the drive to WBFS. SUCCEEDED. Part of the drive was partitioned to "WBFS". That wasn't any good cos when I tried to copy some of the old shit from my old computer to it. WBFS only appears as a file type. Pretty certain I used some other different software to set part of the hard drive to wierd software (ie WBFS). Only useful as a file extension. Can't copy the WBFS files off mi old computer to the new hard-drive. Never mind, shit happens! Thank you for your help anyway :) Pretty sure the wii backup manager I used last time, years ago, WORKED!
