You have to put cetk.bin and firmware.bin in the cakes folder on the root of the SD Card. To get them, Google "3dsfirmware blogspot" (without the quotes) and click the first link. Now, go to the URL and remove everything after the first "/". (Example: "the.site.com/bla/bla" becomes "the.site.com") If you have an O3DS(XL), or 2DS, scroll down to the "Others" section under
OLD 3DS and download the one called "
firmware.bin+cetk (Cakes) --> support firmlaunch 9.6 to 10.4" (or firmlaunch 9.0 to 9.2 if you're emuNAND is still on 9.2). If you have a New 3DS(XL), repeat all the steps except go to the
NEW 3DS section and then "Others". If you just set up emuNAND and you haven't gone on it yet, use the firmlaunch+cetk 9.0 to 9.2, go into emuNAND and update through
SYSTEM SETTINGS. When its finished, turn off your 3DS and put the SD Card in your computer and swap out the firmlaunch+cetk 9.0 to 9.2 for the firmlaunch+cetk 9.6 to 10.4.
While you're on the site
(make sure to be on the OLD 3DS section if you have an Old 3DS(XL) or 2DS, and NEW 3DS section if you have a New 3DS(XL)!) you may as well get AGB_FIRM-PATCHED.cia (with or without the boot screen) and TWL_FIRM-
4.0.cia, which both install to NAND. (
On emuNAND!!! The TWL_FIRM will brick your console if you install it on sysNAND!! Open up FBI on
emuNAND and press L to switch destination to NAND and select the AGB_FIRM and TWL_FIRM CIAs on your SD Card and press A to install. Overwrite if it asks. Keep in mind you don't have to do this if you don't want to play GBA or DSiWare.)
